smaller MLR format might be good even if it feels counterintuitive right now

fewer teams means tighter weekly competition and higher overall quality on the pitch, which matters more for legitimacy than raw team count does in a sport still trying to establish itself here. I think trying to expand too fast before the talent pool and fanbase catch up is what actually kills leagues long term, not staying small

Best time to buy tickets

Looking to go to my first game in November, but ticket prices on SeatGeek and StubHub are crazy high right now.

Is it better to just bite the bullet and lock them in now, or do prices usually drop the week/day of the game?

Steph extending with Golden State for 2 more years basically seals him finishing his career as a Warrior

Seeing reports that Steph is looking at that 2-year max extension taking him to age 41 makes all those crazy trade rumors finally die down. Honestly, in this era where every superstar demands a trade every two seasons, watching a guy stay with one franchise for two decades is rare.

first Champions League game

they were genuinely all over the place early on, Inter had the better of the opening stretch, and Real Madrid capitalized on a defensive turnover and a keeper mistake rather than dominating on merit. I think that's the concerning part heading into tougher European nights, they needed a gift to get going. still, getting the win in Mourinho's first Champions League match back on the touchline matters symbolically, especially coming off that Betis loss. Liverpool beating Ipswich

Ipswich never really threatened after going down, and Liverpool controlled most of the game without needing to fully open up. I think this is more about Ipswich's squad depth being genuinely thin as a promoted side than Liverpool being back to their absolute best

NFL blocked the Vikings from re-signing Kenny Dyson to the practice squad

Vikings basically created their own problem by moving too fast on the Dyson re-sign.only 20 days passed between his original signing and this failed practice squad attempt, feels like someone in the front office either didn't know the rule or miscalculated the timeline. I think this is a legit process error on Minnesota's end, not some unfair league move imo

NFL blocked the Vikings from re-signing Kenny Dyson to the practice squad

I think the rule itself is dumber than the situation

Vikings waived him with an injury settlement, then tried bringing him back a week later, league said no because of a rule requiring the settlement length plus three weeks before a re-sign. I think this rule exists for a legit reason (stopping teams from gaming injury settlements as a cap workaround), but in this case it's just screwing over a guy who was reportedly their best edge rusher all preseason for a paperwork technicality

Athletic thumping Atletico 3-0

Nico Williams, Robert Navarro, and Sancet all scored, genuinely dominant performance against a Simeone side that had zero fight in the second half. this is exactly the response people wanted to see after that ugly red-card-marred loss to Sevilla in the opener

Mbappe's career trajectory

434 career goals and 177 assists in 576 appearances for club and country, 18 trophies won, and he's the all-time World Cup leading scorer with 22 goals across three tournaments. broke out at Monaco winning a Ligue 1 title at 18, moved to PSG and became their all time top scorer with 256 goals in just 308 games, now at Real Madrid

I think what actually separates him is the World Cup output specifically, 2 titles reached (won one, runner up once), he's still adding to his tally every tournament. that kind of sustained peak performance on the biggest stage over 8 years is rare even among all time greats

reverting to direct long ball tactics

Noticed it in the epl and got the stats and there's been instances of outfielders booting long goal kicks up the pitch already this season, that's already half of last season's total after just 3 games. same story with long throws, 11 out of 20 teams launched one into the box on opening weekend alone, up from just 4 teams the year before

I think this is happening bc pressing systems have gotten so aggressive that playing out from the back close to your own goal just isn't worth the risk anymore for a lot of managers

Casemiro getting his first MLS goal

Casemiro opening the scoring with that header was good. Having a veteran destroyer anchoring the midfield gives Messi and Suárez total freedom to stay forward without having to cover as much defensive ground.

Rafael Leão rejecting Aston Villa to join Galatasaray is insane

After all those talks trying to bring him to Villa Park, Leão choosing Galatasaray for €45m + €5m add-ons is wild.that could possibly be a wasted potential and talent man

Big 6 raiding Non-Big 6 teams for £100m+ every single window is getting ridiculous

Looking at the transfer window moves—Chelsea paying £117m for Morgan Rogers from Villa, Tottenham dropping £100m on Sandro Tonali, and Arsenal taking Bruno Guimarães for £75m... it literally feels like non-Big 6 clubs aren't allowed to keep a world-class core for more than two seasons..Villa push for Champions League spots and immediately lose key players. Newcastle build a top-four squad and end up selling three starters in one summer

City's midfield without Rodri and Bernardo Silva feels so weird to watch

Maybe that Etihad era is gone or maybe not.Enzo Maresca coming in and dropping £116m on Elliot Anderson plus £85m on Ayyoub Bouaddi is such a massive tactical pivot. Anderson and Kovačić have big shoes to fill trying to anchor that midfield while City push for Chelsea's Enzo Fernández before deadline day.

rough season opener

Berchiche's red card that early basically killed any chance of controlling the game from the start. worst part is this ties a defensive record from last season already, so it's not exactly a one off fluke result

with Nico Williams already dealing with fitness issues and now this kind of start under a brand new manager, feels like a genuinely nervy way to begin the Terzic era but what matters is how we finish not start. Plus for anyone needing a reliable link, try sportsflux. no ad spam just a clean HD crisp stream that's good
