Why does s&box not have Half life 2 assets?

I have been playing Gmod for a long time, and I was pleasantly surprised that the creators of Gmod were making a new successor with the Source 2 engine. I was just a bit confused about why the standard player models changed instead of having the Half-Life Source 2 assets as the groundwork for the game. Because I always recognised the Half-Life assets, but the newest models look...Different.

Is there some legal issue (copyright ownership) why they can't use the Half-Life 2 assets?

I figured it would be better to ask people who know the reason why this is instead of just asking chatGPT who will give a random generated awnser.

Bungie's leadership is trully remarkabe.

Be Bungie> create the most profitable game you have ever made. Then you make the game worse every year.

Players start leaving in protest, so you make the game even worse for every new instalment.

You then make the biggest free update right before killing your own game, so you can sell your next extraction shooter that is competing with 3 other massive games in an already niche market.

People start protesting in mass, wanting more Destiny, and are begging you not to kill it, and are willing to pay for it with money.

Your new game gets massively ratioed by Steam charts alone.

Your CEO (Satan) decides to kill the game even after 5 million players are playing Destiny on its last update. Truly remarkable.

Edit: Even tho there are some jokes and memes created to scoff at the terrible state this game is in, that has destroyed this incredible franchise. Destiny is sadly not going to return for the most part.

I always wanted this game to be great, and when Bungie failed to deliver, I was at first happy when people started leaving. I hoped that they would change course and get the message that we were sending them. But instead, they left the ship and let Destiny 2 die. They never really cared. And we who fell in love with this franchise, we are the ones who lost what we loved. We wanted them to know that we were upset. But instead of listening to their fans, they killed it instead. None of us wanted this to happen. I left the game years ago, but I waited longer than I ever played, because I wanted to return to the game I fell in love with.
Something that you love is also that something you never want to leave. Even if it is taken away from you. Destiny is that something.
