Happy memories

This past weekend my wife and I took our kids to the barber. What would normally be a haircut and then weekend errands turned into something much more.

We both own jeeps. Mine is the Solar Yellow TJ, hers is a black on black JK. We both have hard tops, but mine is easier to remove.

The kids absolute love the jeep without the roof. They wanted to ride with me after.

I dont want to post the photo, due to not having the kids permission. But my wife wanted to take a photo, and its the most magical thing I have ever seen.

They are just super thrilled about riding with dad in my 5 speed. Ages 4 and 8, they are absolute beaming with happiness.

I tear up writing this, and looking at it.

Sometimes people dont realize that a car is more than a car.

And that's what makes Jeep stand out from other vehicles.

They aren't *just* a vehicle, its a member of a family. A symbol of adventure, fun, and love.

Its more than a super car, or sports car can give.

This community knows what exactly I'm speaking about.

The impromptu road trips, the meet ups, the off reading convoys, camping trips. Everyday errands. It feels like so much more than any car I've owned.

I remember when I was a child, my sister and I felt the same way when my father would take us on trips or rally rides with our local military vehicle club. He owned 2 M151s. An A1 and an A2. Ford MUTTs. They were an absolute blast.

My Jeep may not be a military issued vehicle, but it brings me back to those impromptu rides with no roof, or military rallies, and convoy rides.

And seeing that magic in my children's lives, makes me happier than I've ever been.

One thing is for sure, no matter how long or how short I have my TJ, I already can't thank it enough for the memories it's made. And I've only had it for a month or so.

Thank you everyone for reading this, and I hope you all enjoy your Jeeps.

Got my TJ's top off today since God only knows when

I recently obtained a 2004 TJ. 5 speed 2.4L.

186K. It had the timing belt, alternator and the serpentine belt replaced.

The frame and tub are in spectacular shape and seem to be coated already.

The top hasn't seen like its come off since its been bought. So, that had led for the T40 bolts to seize up in place to the square nuts and weld themselves in place.

In order to get them out, it too me 8 metal blades, and 2 sawzalls to cut them out.

I had to split the bolt heads in half, down the middle and break them apart in order to drop the bolts out.

I smoked out my Ryobi sawzall 7 times before it burnt up to a crippled run. Then busted out the A/C powered sawzall to finish the job.

But the fiberglass didn't suffer any damage, and now I can replace the bolts with wing nuts and bolts.

I can finally drive top less and have already took 2 rides with and without the kids.

I love this thing.

Tire suggestions

Anyone have a good suggestion or guidance on tires?

I have a 250 that has some not good tires on it. They have fat knobs but it feels like riding on marbles and floats on terrain that's not solid.

I do understand that super soft sand is always going to be tricky, but when I'm riding trails I can't really lean into the turns because the tires slip too much.

The trails I ride are generally solid. There's a few spots of stones and soft sand but the majority of the trails are solid ground but it just feels like riding on marbles when I throttle. Ive tried leaning into my turns with a foot out and applying small throttle to make the turn but the bike slides out from under me.

I got that Kayo T2 230CC running!

Its been swapped to a true 250cc (172fmm).

Its super snappy, fast and fun. Totally worth it in my opinion.

Ive got a few things to finish up with (the footbrake peg for example) but its rideable and I'm having a ball
