Update on buying a fielding mask: proved a point Immediately

Last week I made a post about buying a fielding mask after 3 close called in 2 games. Last night was my first game using it, and had a poetic experience.

Kid on the other team who I know chirped me about the mask, I told him I had a few close calls and decided it was time, his response was more or less "why, are you scared?". Just said not scared as much as I can't afford to lose teeth and break my nose (I'm a server at a fine dining restaurant, can't go in to work like that lol).

Well, later on in the game this kid is playing SS, and goes to field a grounder that proceeds to skip up away from his glove and smack him in the teeth. Once I knew he was fine I asked him if he still wanted to tease me about the mask.

Just thought you guys would like to hear that

Too many close calls - bought a fielding mask

Play mostly 3rd base, but also pitch in my 3-pitch leagues (pitch to your own team). While sure I've had the occasional bad hop or comebacker, they've never been "scary" but that weirdly changed this week.

Monday while playing 3rd, had a rocket grounder skip up from a roll to my face, just barely got out of the way of it. Kind of jokingly just said "think I should probably get a mask", thinking maybe I'd get one in a week or two.

Then yesterday (Tuesday) while pitching I had 2 batters on back-to-back pitches line it straight at me. The first one wasn't too fast but the second one I literally had to collapse and fall to the ground to get out of the way.

I went out this afternoon and bought a fielding mask, this shit ain't worth it 😅. The world was clearly trying to tell me something.

Finally broke 100 this past Friday

Been golfing off and on since COVID. Coming from a softball background I always have trouble staying down in my swing, but finally I started tying everything together. Maxed one hole, but was able to mix in three pars into my usual bogey/double bogey. By the end of 18 I was at 99!

Super excited about this, thought I'd share 😊

Finally able to have a home run recorded! Further swing critique

Since last September I've been working on cleaning up my swing. Getting rid of the waggle, keeping my hands and shoulders up, and keeping a coil/load/drive through the ball.

This past Sunday the swing was working for me. Was able to get a recording on this home run, and hit 2 more between 2 games.

Still looking for further critique/drilling to work on though!

Schneider's skink sloughing scales - concern?

My Schneider's skink has been losing weight and is currently being treated for a respiratory infection, going in for an injection every 3 days. Today my wife discovered some scales/shed sloughing off, likely from the handling. He is due for a shed, so would you say this is cause for concern? The vet said it's nothing to worry about

Callaway XR driver

Junk woods that I haven't taken out of the bag yet

King Cobra 2 OS irons

Callaway Forged 56,60

Kirkland putter

Everything I have besides the woods and putter is new to me this season, all of them were gotten on marketplace for great prices though 😅
