Help with chameleon!!
I am new to owning a chameleon and I set up this enclosure with heat lamp, UVB and an automatic mister but I have concerns about stagnant air and URIs. Soon to add isopods and springtails but wil a reptile fan on the mesh top help the enclosure avoid the stagnant air?
My other concern is that the apartment we stay in does not have a kitchen vent and if we cook will we accidentally kill the chameleon because the smells stay in the apartment. The kitchen is about 16 ft from the enclosure
I really don’t want it to die and I would still like to be able to cook!
Hello reptile owners, my sanity is at risk.
I apologize ahead of time for my bluntness. I am tired.
I am a highschool student and I own a bearded dragon. He loves crickets, so I give him crickets. Somehow, one got loose about a week ago. It’s STILL loose.
This thing does not shut up. Ever. I have torn up my whole room, I have blasted every fan, I have recruited my mother, but I cannot find it.
Earplugs don’t help, music doesn’t help, the tv doesn’t help, this thing is louder than all of it.
It’s taunting me. I’ll move from one side of the room to the other and it moves with me, just to fuck with me. That stupid cricket is laughing at me from wherever the fuck it resides.
I have 3 final exams in the morning. I cannot sleep with this devil spawn of an insect hopping around my room. Please someone tell me how to get rid of it.
And to the cricket, I know you’re reading this you little fuck. I’m going to get you. I will drag you back down to hell where you belong and I will tap dance on your grave. You will look like a car crash victim when I’m done with you, mark my words. I will kill you.
I found this little guy roaming the streets of Wilmington NC
I found this little dude in downtown Wilmington NC. I'm trying to figure out what exactly it is. I'm almost positive it's some kind of gecko. I took him home and want to give him a good life :) any advice would be much appreciated! I need to know care, eating habits, habitat requirements and all that.
Need help found an injured Gecko
Hello everyone, I found a young (i think) Mediterranean gecko in Italy (likely Tarentola mauritanica). Its rear left foot/distal leg was crushed in a door and is almost certainly non-functional now. The rest of the body was not crushed.
When I found it, it was stuck in direct sun and severely dehydrated. I carefully freed it, rinsed it gently, and placed it in a ventilated container with water, shade, paper towel substrate, and a hide.
Current condition after ~12 hours:
- alert
- holds head up normally
- eyes open
- tail intact
- dragging injured leg completely
Main issue: I may have to leave for the weekend and I’m unsure whether keeping it temporarily in a ventilated outdoor/indoor shaded enclosure is better than releasing it in my garden.

Our Iguana made the cover of a local magazine!
I'll have to get the print edition tomorrow. Our bestest boy Ron made the cover of a local outfits pet edition! I had no idea that my girlfriend had submitted a photo but what an honor for such a good boy!
Came across one of the "desk pets" stands at Petco
This Petco actually put a sign up and are essentially telling people the "tank" they're sold in is NOT meant to be what they live in the rest of Thier lives, they even started selling death feigning beetles in case someone wanted something that could actually fit on a desk, I still don't like that this stand exists at all but this is an acceptable compromise in my opinion
How do you tame a giant day gecko?
How do I tame my giant day gecko to the point I can get him on my hand? I've only had two instances where he jumped on my hand but it wasn't like he fully trusted me. I've been very patient with him and give him his space, but I just find it hard to get to the transition from him on to my hand. He trusts me enough to do whatever around his cage without him running away and will lick my finger and eat from it but runs at the slightest touch.
Looking to get into reptiles
Hey, Im starting to really get into reptiles and wanting to own them. What should be my first reptile. I'm honestly not into bearded dragons or leopard geckos. I found an interest in Leachie geckos and I thought they were really cool. Can anyone put me on to another cool reptile or show me how to keep or what type of leachie I should get. Thank you!
Rescue them please
These guys NEED a new safe home asap. I don’t have any room and can’t afford to pick them up but I refuse to stand by and hope someone will come across the post
From what I can tell there is 2 juvenile bearded dragons and 1 adult bearded dragon all together in a 20 gallon tank.
PLEASE SOMEONE HELP THEM
What should I put in here?
Got this 50 gallon tall tank (36x13x25) from an old teacher and want to put something in it rather than let it collect dust like it has been. Tank definitely needs some TLC but I would probably turn it bioactive. Was thinking something like day geckos or anoles. If you have any suggestions for turning this guy bioactive or a lizard/reptile that should go in there let me know.
Looking at adopting!
I'm a teacher in SW Arkansas at the high school level. I recently moved into a permanent space and it's quite nice. I also inherited a tank and I want to adopt a class room mascot (I run a high school tv studio). I've put together this set up and I'm looking for advice as to what you would put in here and how you would effectively set this up to make a good home. The tank is 4' by 1' and the substrate currently is organic coco coir mixed with washed premium quikrete play sand. Currently, all plant life in the tank is fake except one small fern. Eventually I would love to convert this into a bioactive landscape, but that's further down the road. I do have a very active culture of smugbugs.
I've grown quite fond of the reptile world and I have really enjoyed being a lurker here. I want to do this right by the reptile we adopt.
I also have a smaller 1' by 2' front opening enclosure I was looking at doing something with later
Thank you all so much for any advice you can give!
UVB/Basking Light for Brown Anole?
I've been looking into adopting a brown anole from my local pet store. I've been researching everything I'd need to properly care for one. I was gifted a lamp I could potentially use but I'm a little confused on if this would be a good fit for a brown anole or not. It says UVB/UVA but it also says it can be used for basking??
I was just wondering if anyone here has any more information on if this would be a good option or not.
