We have cellar spiders and house centipedes but he wasn’t near in a nest when found. This guy is the 2nd dead skink I’ve found in my basement so I’m wondering whats killing them and apparently not eating them.

My mom won’t allow me to bring home anything heavy?

I know this is a kind of absurd question but I’m trying to see if there’s any way to convince her otherwise. Currently I’m looking for a CRT (bulky tube TV) to play PS2 games on since ive noticed the colors are great on my other set. I’m only wanting another one since my current CRT is limited by having RF only inputs (very low quality.

The one I’m looking at has an aperture grille and component video in, essentially making it a very high quality model. Over the past month I’ve made space for it by getting rid of a lot of older parts/ewaste I had lying around since my mom said that as along as I make space for it and carry it, I’d be able to get it. However now that I told her it weighs 160lbs she’s strongly against me getting it since “she wouldn’t be able to move it” and that “everything we have in the house has to be moveable”

This is just illogical to me since A: my mom is perfectly capable of moving that much weight as she’s done with furniture before and B: we have plenty of things in our house that are above that weight.

Anyways to summarize I guess she’s forgotten how much CRTs weight and only remembers after I’ve gotten rid of a large amount of my things. Not sure what type of advice I’m looking to hear but anything would help

What steps should I take to prepare for junior year?

I’ve heard many people say that it’s the hardest year of high school and that it’s what colleges will be looking at to see if they’ll accept you. Currently my GPA is 3.18 which is obviously not great, I’m taking about 4 AP classes which I’m hoping will help to bring it up. I have another 2 weeks before school starts so I’m wondering about what I should be focusing on and prioritizing during break and throughout the year, thanks!

If the power relay has gone bad, what else should I replace to ensure the next one won’t fail preemptively

The power relay is the large blue rectangle in the center of the photo, I’ve been told I should also replace the surrounding caps and diodes since they could be the reason why the original one failed. Was wondering if there’s anything im missing or anything beneficial I could get out of replacing a component im not thinking of, thanks!

Are there any benefits worth the higher cost for the Drukqs box reissue

I don’t buy much for myself and I’d love the look of a cool box but otherwise would it be worth it? Shipping isnt terrible as I’m in the U.S. and I wouldn’t get an original box due to current egregious prices. Anyways, for those out there who love good packaging, will you be skipping out on the long box reissue or is it good for what it is? Thanks

Which one would you get?

The first 2 are $20, the cabinet crt is free, and the Sony is $200 (I’d only offer $120 max though) they all have S video which is what matters most to me. First two are 20” with the cabinet being 31” and the Sony at 32”

The Sony also has component too which is nice, I have a truck and a lifting buddy but I’m short on space so I can probably only get one right now, all recommendations appreciated.

What does an HDD clicking actually mean?

I ripped a 1TB hdd out of my old 2013 office computer a while back and have it in an enclosure now, ever since around 2019 it’s had an sporadic clicking when transferring data, it’s at 98% health and one reallocated sector so not great not terrible. I was just wondering what the clicking is caused by since I hear a bunch that it’s a short term death sentence but it’s been like that for the past 8 years, thanks!

Does anyone have experience with the ASUS BW-16D1X-U

I've seen very mixed things about them recently, currently considering getting one as it would be my first blu-ray drive and the price isn't terrible for me. The only issue is there's inconsistent information about its capabilities regarding UHD/4K playability and ripping due to differing chips between the new and old models. Reviews are pretty evenly divided between it working straight out of box with MakeMKV for UHD, having to be flashed, and not being compatible at all. I'd appreciate recommendations too if there are any more reliable drives that can be found easily that would be better for someone with minimal experience, thanks!

Do I need to recoat the aquadag on a CRT that’s been rained on?

Sorry for the bad photo but I just saved this one from off the curb, unfortunately it was after a big storm so I’ll have to wait about a week to test anything, im just wondering that since the aquadag is water soluble, should I recoat the tube? The left and right sides are still dark grey but from the middle down it’s a much glossier lighter grey, was wondering if this would be an issue, thanks!

Had an absolute field day at my local used media store

Was stoked to find a high quality copy of my favorite movie (the princess bride) plus at only $1 a piece it was only $24!
