SOS with finely diced fried hotdogs versus the typical ingredient.

SOS with finely diced fried hotdogs versus the typical ingredient.

It works and it's quite tasty. I'm tired of the questions of food choices from people that don't know my situation in depth. I can't always make money, I can't always get the proper ingredients- when I can, I do. And healthier choices are included at that point.

Let's go beyond healthy choices because you should be aware you can't always eat healthy all the time (finances), yet most everyone has a cheat or a dessert meal. If you don't, you are lying- which is my point-just because I've shown some junk meals doesn't mean I eat that way always, and I don't.

When I'm able to eat cucumber salad, with vinaigrette, onion, tomato and some greens. I don't post that as a struggle because it's so healthy (and not a struggle in my opinion), I guess I'm just not understood here, that's okay. I think the moderation here is lacking completely, but that's my own opinion.

That being said texture and flavor fatigue is a real thing- sometimes junkier food is a nice change of pace versus something as simple as beans and rice- yet I have people judge me, just becaus I want to taste something different.

I've been judged from being stoner food, to being absolutely disgusting, from flavor choices or nutrition issues.Excuse me, are your flavor choices the rule of the world? Are you able to always make the best food choices with the money in your hand at the time? Sometimes people just have to eat, and sometimes they want something that's a little bit more flavorful. You keep complaining, I'm going to keep on eating to where I enjoy it by mixing it up.

Yes there's Crystal on it, it's not meth, those comments are getting very old as well considering none of you apparently know what hot sauce is. The jokes are getting old, be kind please..

Grilled cheese with onion, tomato and drizzled with ketchup

I know what you might be thinking, because I thought the same thing at first. The other day I saw a redditor talking about eating grilled cheese with ketchup, how it was similar to having it with tomato soup. Not going to lie this works. I got extra fancy and made spicy ketchup with Crystal (hot sauce). If you're ever in a pinch and all you have is ketchup give it a try. Sure I prefer tomato soup, but this just gave my sandwich some pizzazz without it.

I got a good chuckle with this one, especially after said neighbors dog (a sweet Dachshund) approached me upon delivery trying to inspect the goods.

On top of that, it was a stolen delivery, staff themselves were confused because they didn't remember anyone entering the store and taking it off of the shelf (slow day).

Fortunately in this instance they decided to remake the order. I messaged the customer and told them there was going to be a little bit of a delay because someone stole their order. Anyways when I get there I asked her when she ordered if there was another driver before myself? She said yes, first driver's name was different. At that point I informed her that it was stolen by that driver, and briefly explained how it's done.. She was so very thankful that I hung around longer and took the time to message her and update her. To be honest, I could have still completed this delivery without alerting to her that there was an issue. My focus was to just merely let her know there was a delay in the reason why, to keep my ratings.

This woman actually apologized to me that I had to stay longer to get her order. I'm like look, we got lucky in this instance because they usually don't want to remake orders, I just wanted to make sure you got your food regardless. I left and then received a $10 additional tip, and that my friends it's how you get extra tips. No need to bag or create a sob story, no need to leave treats for anyone with a message- just treat their food as your own, keep them in the loop when necessary, and just do your job.

I'm sorry for no photo of the Dachshund, I was too busy giving him pets.

▲ 119 r/povertykitchen+1 crossposts

I feel like I'm eating gourmet tonight. Thinking about cross posting to r/povertykitchen because this doesn't seem like a struggle at all. Perhaps I'm starting to graduate, which is an amazing thought at the moment (still rocking my Crystal, technically extremely edible)

So I went from ramen, beef snack, crackers and cheese- to this. I had some questions on my original struggle me on, and the only reason Incorporated those ingredients to my meal that particular post, was because my car was broke down and I was using surveys to buy food. And the only place I could buy food was a truck stop a mile and a half away from my house, so you can imagine the struggle trying to source things in that aspect. Everything is overpriced, and there's not really much for ingredients- especially when you own a absolute bare bottom budget.

Anyways I was able to source dry beans the next day, along with some onion, serranos, cheap ass sausage and some Badai Sazion (good stuff to be honest, and very cheap).

I cooked everything up last night and had beans alone which was amazing in itself, with further plans on making rice the next day and adding the juice to make rice and beans.

Today I switched it up because I didn't feel like making rice. I used some of the leftover sausage that I didn't cook with the beans, air fried it and slapped it on top with some sliced avocado a source today.

Like man, I'm not even kidding, this is an absolutely five star meal for me this evening and I am absolutely beyond thankful!!!;

Was able to get some supplies for a healthier meal this evening. My last post some people hinted it might be stoner food, but it was actually because my car was broke down and I had to walk to a truck stop to get additional ingredients. So thankful to be eating healthier tonight.

My previous post was ramen with sliced beef stick with prepackaged crackers and cheese. I got a couple comments inferring that it might be Stoner food, and also not healthy choices. I understand but that was the only choices I had at the truck stop I could walk to with my vehicle being broke down at the time.

Anyways today's feast was a bit more healthier. I was able to source a bag of pinto beans, a white onion, a couple of serrano peppers, Badia Sazion, and a cheap off brand sausage link that I would never suggest to get (but you got to do what you got to do, it was $ 2.39 on sale).  It was specifically Earl Campbell's jalapeno sausage link. I just wanted an additional cheap protein add to the beans- so I went with it regardless of previous experience. If you're familiar with hillshire Polska sausage links, that's some pretty tasty stuff- this is subpar by far, so mileage may vary.

My intention was for rice and beans, but I didn't want to cook anymore after cooking dry beans this afternoon. I will eat plain beans today, then add rice tomorrow (I saved some liquid from the beans to add to it, I'm a fan of aqua faba). For additional meals with leftovers besides adding to rice, I might throw it on top of a baked potato since I found a few underneath in my cabinet that are still good. I'll be able to eat for several days off of this, and then I should be good to go with money after that and be able to eat a little bit easier in regards to a struggle.

For anyone cooking dry beans that isn't using an instapot/pressure cooker, I highly suggest not soaking them before cooking.

The reason why is that when you soak beans in water overnight, the beans are just absorbing unflavored water. If you just straight up cook them from the get-go with seasoned water, absolutely every bit of that flavor gets absorbed into the beans. Again mileage may vary.

I took half (saving the other half for another occasion) the sausage link and sliced it up and fried it golden brown in a deep skillet. Then I added diced onion, sliced serranos, Badai Sazion, water, beans- then let it simmer for 2 hours in a covered skillet.

Beef ramen al dente, fried in beef stick oil, with a sprinkle of cheese packet from a Kraft macaroni box meal that I repurposed.

Getting down to the bare minimum so I was trying to make things a little bit extra. $1.89 beef stick from the truck stop that I could walk to within a few miles, plus a dollar 29 cheese crackers. I elevated my game by cooking my ramen Al dente and removing it from my skillet. Then I sliced up my meat product and fried it until it produced a little bit of Grease. Threw the news on top of that and sprinkled half a packet of seasoning from the Roma packet on top. I broke up the cheese and cracker package and put it on top for texture and additional cheesiness flavor. I'm definitely not going to lie here and say it was absolutely delicious. I often like to fry my ramen and some real butter or margarine regardless, because it always adds to the flavor-the cheap meat stick did the same thing in I'm a happy camper tonight.

I'm serious this was a good comfort meal tonight.

Migas without veggies plus Crystal

3 eggs, crushed up tortilla chips and Crystal. I might consider it struggle without the hot.sauce. Any hot sauce can take a struggle and enhance it.

CV axle pulled away from transmission and I can see 3 wheels/bearings. Is there hope?

Just as titled. I was removing my LCA on an older Honda Accord, and I guess I tugged on the knuckle a little too hard and the axle popped out of the other end revealing grease covered wheels/bearings. Is this salvageable, or am I going to be stranded till the end of the month till my social security hits.

Additional details: I did not touch the ground and is clean. Can I just try and gently push it back in and resecure the boot? I don't mind getting a new CV axle, I just cannot afford any such thing until later this month. live out in the middle of cotton fields so I'm just trying not to stay stranded.

And yes I understand to be careful. But I had previously did my driver side LCA and sway bar links with no hassle at all.

Armor chicken/pork hotdogs air fried with mustard onion relish, ketchup and a splash of Crystal. Cheap pack of four cheese instant potatoes, and also corn with crushed up blue Takis in it.

I reused a 1.25 pack of takis that I had crushed up a couple days before the sprinkle on some ramen ( I like texture). Everything was sourced from dollar stores besides the onion. I really like hot dogs with onions mustard and ketchup, I even like mustard and onions on chili dogs. So if you just mix up diced onions with mustard, they keep a lot longer in the refrigerator and smell much less, if at all. Onions are pain when you cut them up and store them in the refrigerator, and typically the only thing I found that keeps them from smelling, it's to wrap some form of plastic (whether it's a baggie or whatever), over top the bowl before placing the lid on top. Water can work too, but in this instance the mustard just takes care of it all. If they get runny just pour the excess water out and add some more mustard, no continue to be good for a while.

I did also add two packets of Parmesan cheese that I got from the gas station near my house to increase the cheesiness a little bit. My little corn creation I call the incredible hulk, but I only like it when the takis are crispy- so I have to eat it relatively soon because after the fact it becomes sog- and that's no bueno for me
