Actually not that bad.
Hotdog bun, some cheese i stole from work, a gas station mayo packet, and some chili Ramen seasoning for extra flavor.
Doritos in mashed potatoes
Boyfriend brought home from work and i put the bottom of the chips bag in it. Not bad
Weird combo, but it works!
I'm trying to make what's in my fridge work. I have the last slice of Bologna that I browned. I mixed some mayonnaise with a little bit of leftover cabbage that I had and layered tomatoes on a half a slice of toasted bagel. My neighbor gave me fresh mango so some mango slices to finish everything.! It's a nice mashup of salty and sweet
Chili and leftover breakfast sausages 😋
Shitty photo but tasted great
Minimal Struggle Salami and Cheese Toasty.
Just minimal ingredients and effort required to fix this toasty. Add black pepper or chili powder for a bit more bite!
Lot of requests for the $1.87 Banquet with the brownie
You guys loved my last post of the $1.87 banquet with the chicken tenders and I got a lot of request for the one with the brownie this is my favorite one the secret to getting the brownie to come out good is to add butter You want to do this to the mac and cheese as well but more importantly to the brownie also only cook it like 20 seconds at a time and stir it and take it out when it's still a little underdone this will give you a much better brownie experience
Using what I got
Bean + Hot dog Mac
Soy sauce packets, 2 hot dogs from a $1 pack, .59 box Mac n cheese, the rest a can of great northern beans I saved from using the other half in a curry the other day (it's not an authentic curry, but it's tasty, so 🤷♀️).
I tried to add broccoli, but it was unfortunately too freezer burnt to be enjoyable (hence the few green bits). I might add peas next time!
It's really tasty. I personally love beans so much so this is a new comfort meal that I can't wait to experiment with later on. This will probably be enough for three meals (I don't feel like dirtying up a plate so I'll eat out of the pot before putting it away). I might need to add another hot dog on meal three, but still a cheap eat!
Good luck out there y'all, keep truckin' along 🫶✨
Food bank chicken and baked potato!
Got a whole frozen chicken last week at the food bank! Roasted it today. So tasty. Will provide meat for a while.
Didn’t make this for a poverty reason, but this is cheap enough for a poverty meal
This is leftovers from two days of meals for 4th of July weekend entertaining. Looked better on day I made it, but still tastes good today! Smoked a pork shoulder on a charcoal grill (don’t need an expensive smoker), made baked beans completely homemade (from dried beans). We cut up some raw veggies (cucumbers, carrots) to serve as another side on day one with 8 people. Day two someone brought pasta salad and Waldorf salad (both are cheap to make) for 8 more people. Also buns to make sandwiches if you wish.
I get that meat can be expensive, but pork shoulders can be found on sale for reasonable prices. We got a 9 lb shoulder. BBQ sauce also homemade and was inexpensive to make. Ultimately I’ll get 18 servings from this shoulder.
You have options though. No charcoal grill? Cut into smaller sizes and make a portion in a slow cooker. Or make in a Dutch oven. Recommend some smoked paprika get incorporated into it if no smoker or charcoal grill.
Bean spaghetti
Soak beans. Boil with soy sauce, bbq spices, salt. Boil a potato. Blend the beans with water and oil. Add potatoes. Boil noodles. Add fridge sauce to sauce. Mix, add noodles. Parsley for topping.
I got asked what fridge sauce was.
Mayo. 3 heaping tbsp
Soy. 1 tbsp
Bbq. 1 tbps
Cayenne
Paprika
Chilli powder. Mild
Salt.
(This time, added mustard, dijon)
Keep in a clean jar in the fridge, use as sauce, dip, spread on bread. Numerous uses.
Don't know how much this one cost, but it was cheaper than the other two
Sunday Struggle Dinner
Baked chicken marinated in teriyaki, with rice from a 5lb bag.
Didn’t have any good veg.
If there are leftovers I may make chicken salad.
An American eating lentils & rice on the 4th of July
Indian-spiced lentils cooked with brown rice, canned carrots, unsweetened applesauce. At least it's healthy!
