There was a time I just needed like 40 USD kutoka market.

It was payday.

And because I’m a “sharp guy”, “problem solver”, “very wise individual” 😭, I came up with a brilliant idea:

“Why touch salary na kuna forex?”

Simple mathematics:

Take 10k.

Enter full margin.

Get 40 USD.

Call it a day.

A very intelligent decision indeed.

First trade?

Profit.

Confidence entered immediately.

Chest up.

Now I’m feeling like hedge fund manager wa Wall Street.

Then boom.

One candle from the pits of hell appeared.

Suddenly:

- sweating

- shaking

- removing and wearing hoodie

- checking spread

- zooming charts like it changes anything

Few seconds later…

MARGIN CALL.

Account gone.

Now disappointment kicks in.

Embarrassment.

Mind starts asking:

“Buana… what exactly were you doing?”

But because human beings never learn, I came up with another wise idea:

“Sasa I don’t even want the 40 USD anymore. I just want my money back then I’ll never trade again.”

Deposits again.

This time with promises.

“If I blow this one, I’m done.”

“I’m not funding again.”

“I’m not touching rent money.”

“Deal Kinuthia?”

Deal. 🤝

Funds reflect.

Before I even blink properly…

MARGIN CALL AGAIN.

Account gone.

At this point I’m cursing:

- brokers

- liquidity providers

- market makers

- village witches

- IMF

- even ancestors are not safe 😭

Now almost an entire salary is disappearing in one evening.

But wait…

Another intelligent thought arrives:

“Last deposit.”

“This time I’ll hold trades properly.”

“Even if it takes 3 days.”

“My analysis is PERFECT.”

Devil and his angels were probably clapping as I entered my M-Pesa PIN.

Full margin again.

This time trades actually move in my favor.

Recovery halfway.

Hope returns.

Life starts making sense again.

Now I’m fighting between:

- closing partials and escaping

OR

- sticking to analysis like a disciplined trader

Then I remembered those mentors:

“Reduce screen time.”

“Set and forget"

So I decided to take a walk and go pee kidogo.

Mistake.

When I came back, I discovered farming in shagz is actually a respectable career.

A whole month salary gone.

This is an old quarry behind Emining Boys High School. It is in Baringo, Mogotio at a place called Emining. During the construction of the Emining- Tenges road between 1990 and 1995, the Chinese doing the road sourced the material from this quarry.

While it is a private facility, the 36 yeqr old quarry is also an emerging tourist facility for picnics and team building, a source of irrigation water and a photo shoot destination due to it's scenic appearance.

Emining Old Quarry also has fish and sometimes we have people going out to do fishing as a hobby.

The area around this place is rocky and hilly but it's what forms it's beautiful scenery that has seen it nicknamed, The Stable Village. Famously reffered to as TSV.

Some years back I had a cat I had nicknamed Cate Nduta. A very charming black and white fur beibe. She was my only companion and I had to get her some mtura on a daily basis in the evening ,religiously as an expression of raw love . She would then wash it down with some milk as she waited for me to make dinner. One day, a kid member of my residence came with some not so godly news. Teacher pussy yako Iko Kwa gate imelala. WHAT? MY PUSSY, KWA GATE? IMELALA?

I dashed there, poor girl was lying down helplessly with some bleeding in the mouth. The sight was gross and heart wrenching.She looked at me and meaowed pitifully making my heart sink so deep and as hollow as kasongo promises.

Satan in a human body with a very black heart had hit my cat and injured her lower back, probably giving her a fracture. She could not walk 😢 on her hind limbs. I helped Nduta into the house and placed her on the couch, with tears of melancholy brimming my eyes and freely falling. A cloud of sadness engulfed that house.The mood felt black. Watching her try to walk by dragging her hind limbs shuttered my heart into many pieces of nothingness. I held Nduta in my hands and literally prayed for her,that at least a miracle could happen.

The following day , I called a vet to check on her. As he assessed it, I decided to alievate the suffering and perform euthanasia, I paid 500 for it. He promised to go and give the life taking jab at his clinic since he had not carried it. And my Nduta would join the other cats in spirit .

Nduta was taken onto the bike, I gave her a final caressing as pain pierced my heart . She was then driven away as I cursed the harming hands that descended on her.

Later that night I dreamt of my lovely cat being ran over by a lorry.😢.

I sat on the bed and my inner voice shouted at me" you are stupid, you were dupped. Cate was killed by brutal force and not the calm injection"

was strongly convinced Cate was either smashed or thrown into the bush to suffer to death.

Why do people hurt animals?

My own personal opinion that I fully back using my networth of 14 thousand kenya shillings,is that we need to start shaming women for using make up. Because there is no way!
