Genuinely can’t get married

Salaam everyone. Hope you are well.

I never once thought I’d struggle to get married- I’m a bubbly, kind and caring girl, on her deen and from a very lovely family. My parents are between 47-51 and I’m 28, almost 29. They’ve had their own businesses and done really well (ٱلْحَمْدُلِلَّٰهِ) and would love me and the siblings to find people at a similar level to us/ our family.

Using the apps but people on apps don’t want to meet. It’s like they enjoy the idea of settling down but don’t actually want to make the effort to move towards it. They’re also not ambitious and the small few that are don’t want to get parents involved until 6 months down the line and im not wasting my time with that stupidness.

I work in the creative field and in a small town up north, there is not one muslim guy where I work or tend to be in the companies I work in. Much rather find someone in person but I don’t understand where I can.

People around me are getting married but it just feels so hard to find a guy from a family like mine, slightly modern, really supportive and a great laugh.

So lost. Any advice?

What’s the point of marriage, genuinely?

As a woman working and doing well, living at home with parents who are amazing and very financially stable, have friends and family I can visit, learning about islam and trying to improve in my deen, keepjng active so I look and feel great…

What is marriage giving me?? if a man wants me to work (as he couldn’t be bothered working hard enough to at least provide some sort of financial safety netting for us) and do 50/50 on bills?

So I look after our children, cook, clean, work full time and pay the bills, try to keep him happy and content… husband goes to work and comes home.

Marriage feels like a backwards step in my opinion- does any other girl feel like this?

Not trying to be rude btw. Just explaining how I see it in my head.

(ٱلْحَمْدُلِلَّٰهِ for all my successes and happiness)

Cat licking hair off arms and belly

Hi Vets,

So sorry to bother you with this but I’m a little worried about my cat. (Currently 9 years and 10 months old, Tabby, Male & neutered)

Around July-Oct 2024, he got some scabs on his back near his tail. Took him to a few vets and they couldn’t solve it but the last vet I tried said he had hot spot and gave me some cream and also a steroid injection- he said my cat was allergic to flea bites and to put on his flea medication a few days earlier than it was due to catch the fleas. Scabs stopped coming and the problem was sorted.

March 2025 (we had building work going on) he started taking off hair from his belly. Then I noticed he was doing it to his arms too - he licks and chews his skin. He does itch a bit but Im putting on his flea medication at the right times. He’s recently reduced belly licking but now licking his arms more and they’re sore. The vet keeps saying he is fine and that its a habit that needs to be broken over time. Vet also said he is making it worse himself. When I put on a cone, the skin eventually heals and hair grows back perfectly.

Im switching back to Advantage- I feel like it is better than frontline plus for my cat. He itches less with it.

Have you ever seen this before in a cat? I feel terrible and like Im failing him.

P.S he has anxiety/ stresses easily - that’s always been his personality since I got him.
