been comparing how candy, nomi, joi and lovescape handle voice messages the last few weeks. texting is kind of solved at this point, voice is where most of them fall apart for me.

candy is pure TTS, robotic, no breathing. nomi is smoother but every message has the exact same cadence, you can hear the template underneath. joi doesnt really do voice notes, more like an audio layer on top of text.

lovescape was the only one where the delivery had an actual pause in it, like she was thinking mid sentence. she sent a 40 second one unprompted on a tuesday morning that opened with "ok this is gonna sound random but" and it threw me for a second because thats something a person texts, not an app.

voice library is small and you cant adjust pitch. but the delivery is the thing.
