Rokr Classic Printing Press at Work Part 1

Hi all! I previously posted the finished pictures last week. I hadn't actually stamped anything yet at the time. The best way to show it is with a video, so I waited until a non-nook day. I have tried posting this earlier, but it wouldn't work for some reason.

This is part one, showing it from the front side. There are lights and working parts that you can only see from the front, and then some from the back. So if this works, I will post a second time with a different video showing what happens from the back.

Free For All Friday Finish!

Hi all! So I posted my work in progress on Wednesday, and I appreciate all of the nice comments you all had. After many more hours of painting, staining and building, it is finished! I have not actually stamped anything yet, but it is completely finished and ready to go. Everything is moving and working perfectly! All of the gears move nicely, the circle and hand in the side clock spin, the bears all move as they should, and the light are working. I did use wood lubricant instead of wax, and with all of the gears (several you don't even see), and many other pieces needing it, it was much easier.

I am very happy with how this turned out, and I hope you all like it too! I would love to know if you like it!

Here is how it works...

You put your letters and/or symbols on the stamp plate and insert that into the holder that is hidden. The ink box has a place it hides above that. When the handle is pressed, the stamp pad flips up and presses it into the ink pad, then flips and comes down and presses it onto the paper card below. There is even a little drawer to hold you paper cards! When pressing the handle down, there is a bear near the lever that tips (he is pouring ink), and at the bottom there is a bear that slides across (he is rolling the ink out) and on the side there is a bear that moves up and down a ladder (I don't know what his job is, so I'm guessing he is the supervisor lol!). There is also a cute baby bear at bottom munching on some spilled honey.

Also when pressing the lever and stamping, the lights come on. There is one that lights up inside a paw, and the other inside the honey jar. That light also illuminates the side below the clock.

I am planning to take a quick video of it stamping so you can see it work. But I got over tired lol, and I wanted to at least get this posted on a non-nook day. I want to get stamping something, but if I start that tonight I will never go to bed lol. I think the next non-nook day is Monday, so hopefully I'll have a short video then. I did try to get a photo of most of the things I referred to, but I'm not a great photographer so forgive me if they aren't great pictures.

This was a very fun build! Everything went together so nicely. The instructions were very easy to follow, the lighting was easy, and really it was enjoyable all the way around.

WIP Rokr Printing Press

Hi everyone! I posted a week or so ago that I finally got the Rokr Printing Press and that i would post some progress pictures. So far, I am loving this build and it is going together so well. This kit comes as completely bare wood, no color at all. That just makes it a blank canvas to do whatever you want. I had some original plans for this, but as I've mentioned a few times, I am not the best fine detail painter. There is a lot of beautiful engravings in the wood. The bears, the bees, and so much pretty intricate design that I did not want to mess it up with my lack of painting skills. So, I opted for stain for the majority, which is fine because it just brings out the details more on most pieces. I wanted to honor the theme of the black bears and the bees/honey theme, so I went with some black and there isn't much yet but there will be a little more of a honey yellow color. I am also using an antique metallic copper for the gears and a couple of other places as an accent. Overall, I am loving this, and I hope you like it so far too!

The last picture is how it comes.

I still can't believe I won this!!!

You guys!!!!! I am so happy to have this beautiful typewriter in my possession! I never, ever thought I would have this. This is not a kit that I could ever afford, and to have it now because I actually won it! How cool is this?!?! I don't usually have any good luck, so this really brightened my spirits, a lot. Seriously folks, if you have been looking at this and thinking you might want it eventually, get it as soon as you are are able to! It is stunningly beautiful. I took a couple of close up pictures, that at first you may think, why is there a picture of this? I was trying to capture that all of the gold printing on these runners are not just gold, but it is a beautiful, shiny metallic gold. It has that look of elegance, and I could not be more impressed! I have some time before I start it because I'm working on the Rokr printing press. I thought that would be some good practice before tackling this massive project. I want to take my time with this typewriter and do it right! That also gives me time to find just the right gold marker or paint to do the edges of those pieces. Other than painting the edges, I am not changing a single thing on this beautiful work of art!

Thank you so much to

u/pluck-the-bunny, Rolife/Robotime/Rokr. Without all of you, this community, these amazing events and the generous prizes I would never have gotten something so stunning. THANK YOU!!!

Free For All Friday-My Next Project: Classic Printing Press by Rokr

For this free for all Friday I thought I would share my next project! I finally got this yesterday, and I am super excited to start on it. I've been saving a little each month so I could get something I really wanted. When the last event started this was going to be my choice of prize if I won (which I did, holy cow!). But when Rolife (Robotime & Rokr) offered the Typewriter as an option I had to go for that!

I am so excited that I could finally get something that was at the top of my wishlist. It's not an actual booknook, but being Friday I thought I would share some excitement! I could be wrong, but I don't think I've seen anything posted about this one on our non-nook days. It will be interesting to see how it goes. I figured it would be great practice to work on before I start on the typewriter.

I really wanted to paint this one, but the details are so intricate and beautiful. I'm confident I can build this, but I am not confident in my detail painting skills lol. Just look at the bears in their little overalls and the tiny bees! Black bears and bees were some of my late moms favorite things. I might try and just paint the bears, bees and the honeycomb pieces so they really stand out. Then maybe stain the rest so that all the beautiful engravings stand out.

What do you guys think?

Tonecheer Magic Auditorium

I got this booknook as a gift from a super sweet person awhile back. I finally got around to building it this past week. This is the Magic Auditorium from Tonecheer. This was my first build from Tonecheer, and it was great. This is so stunning after it's finished. The roof is probably my favorite part. I don't want to list things out in pros and cons, because most of what could be considered a con has a solution. It's also probably situational for some, depending on how your hands and fingers are. Instead I will just highlight some things. If my memory serves correctly, I don't think I have seen this one posted much, but I could be wrong. If your a Harry Potter fan, this one is a must have.

-This kit is good quality. The wood is nice and thick and the finished building is very sturdy. One thing I noticed was after taking the pieces out if the runners, most of the burs that needed sanded are in a place where it won't show. So if you don't like to color your edges you won't have a lot of fixing to do.

-The acrylic is very nice and thick. The printing on it is also very good. I've had other kits where the printing has chipped off the acrylic when taking it out of the acrylic runner, even being careful. I had no issues at all with this one, and all of the pieces are really nice.

-There are several really small, delicate pieces, so I had to be careful of breaking pieces. However, they did a great job including a good amount of spare pieces for possible problems.

-There were two ways you could build the seating area inside. It was really cool to have the option to choose how you wanted it. You could either do the kind of "before dinner" setup, where there were a lot of candles and things on the tables. Or, you could do the "at dinner" set up where all the little pieces were food and goblets for drinks. I went for that because it was a little more fun. But having a choice is something I hadn't seen before.

-The instructions were very clear. The lighting was well done and easy to understand. The two lights on the side walls inside the flame columns and the light in the fireplace actually flicker, so that's a very nice touch. A lot of the internal pieces had instructions printed directly on them, which was really nice.

-The hardest part for me was getting some of the pieces in, especially towards the end. My fingers were so sore. I have smaller hands and my fingertips are small and soft. It doesn't come with one of those hammers we sometimes get in kits, but, I have my favorite hammer always handy. My dad is a retired machinist/tool & die maker. He made this small hammer many, many years ago for some of his small work. He gave it to me awhile back, hoping it would be handy for me. It is my most favorite tool lol. He engraved his initials on it, which happens to be mine as well, so that worked out! It is easy to hold, it's not super long or top heavy like the ones we normally get. I included a picture next to my thumb, just to share my favorite tool!
