PSA: Please, do not give your money to LostnFoundFilms. They are a scam operation.

A snake-oil salesman under the handle u/LostnFoundFilms has been making the rounds on social media this week, portending to be a long-time restorer of classic public domain films.

In reality they are nothing of the sort. Instead, they are peddling a paid access YouTube style website featuring generative AI mangled + colorized public domain DVD transfers, all falsely labeled as “restorations”

Red flags everywhere here. The site itself seems to be the product of AI all the way down to the transparently fake “reviews” of a purported service that has yet to be launched. Anyone who points this out is instantly blocked by them.

If you want true 2K and 4K restorations(from actual film elements) they are out there for most of these titles (Archive, Youbtube, blu-ray etc.). Not only that, but they look leagues better than the waxy slop being offered by this dishonest individual trying to capitalize off the film-lover community.

Where is Andor Season 2 on 4K UHD?

With the current El Nino-fueled heat wave making the lower 48 feel like a swamp, I’m spending most evenings at home enjoying the physical movie collection I’ve gradually built across the last several years.

More specifically, over the last two weeks of I’ve enjoyed a full watch-through of Andor Seasons 1, 2, Rogue One and (finally) the original Star Wars. All in beautiful 4K HDR with Dolby Atmos surround.

To be honest, this has been one of the most enjoyable and narratively satisfying experiences I’ve ever had in terms of engaging with the franchise. So much so that, after years of fandom disengagement, it’s actually helped to re-ignite my love for this universe.

The problem? Season one has a beautiful 4K UHD steelbook featuring A/V quality that blows the Disney+ stream away. Same for Rogue One and the original film, which both have standalone releases that I dutifully purchased years ago. But Andor season 2? An IMO most exceptional + critical piece of the story? It outright does not exist anywhere on physical media.

Of course I understand that physical media in general has become more niche in recent years. Also that Disney itself has (unfortunately) divested itself from home video, now farming out all disc authorship to Sony.

Even so. This is Star Wars we’re talking about. Which A) always sells and B) has a fanbase that (by-and-large) values physical ownership more than the casual viewer.

14 Emmy nominations. 5 wins. The best critical and (arguably) fandom reception of any piece of SW media since the launch of Disney+

If the new Mandalorian movie can receive multiple deluxe home video editions, why can’t the second half of this masterpiece get even one?

“My only hope” for now is that they’re holding off for a tie-in with the theatrical 4K re-release of the original next year for the 50th anniversary.

If so, it will be a day one pre-order from me.
