Minecraft PE/BE: Overlaying Phantom Chunks

My journey from MCPE v1.0.2 to MCBE v1.2.10 has brought me a project outside of my plans, why did this happen?

During those aforementioned versions, I created a Survival world, which is currently like my home, and at some point, I lost the only dragon egg that can be obtained in vanilla mode.

The obsession with recovering what I lost led me to do different tests, trying to update to recent versions (the goal is to stay on v1.2.10 for a long time), bugging the game or the dragon battle, I tried everything and in the end I gave up.

During a completely different test, where I wanted to find a way to have a bow with both Repair and Infinity enchantments simultaneously on a single bow (something I haven't yet managed to do), I decided to downgrade a creative world (where I do my testing) to the famous MCPE Alpha v0.15.10. Chunks glitched in a very strange way; they duplicated themselves on top of each other. Honestly, at the time, since it was a flat world, it wasn't a big deal, so I completely ignored it. It wasn't until more than three months later that I started wondering again what potential these duplicated chunks might have.

First, I analyzed why it happened and how I could fix it. I reviewed my Creative world, analyzed the specific area where the chunks were bugged, and placed a glass ceiling at a height of 256 in that area. Even so, I still didn't understand why placing blocks at the height limit and downgrading to alpha v0.15.10 caused the bug. Well, I found the answer days later:

MCPE Alpha v0.15.10 has a height limit of 128 blocks, while in MCBE v1.2.10, the height limit is already 256 blocks.

But how was it possible to downgrade from BE v1.2.10 to alpha v0.15.10? Naturally, if you try this, you'll get a screen saying "This world was opened in higher versions," but I managed to break that limit. Alpha v0.15.10 has a curious feature. What did I do? Simple: I pressed the "Edit World" button, and automatically, for no apparent reason, the world opened without any problem.

There are things to consider when downgrading. Obviously, your inventory can't contain anything from versions higher than alpha v0.15.10. In my case, my Survival world was generated in MCPE v1.0.2 and downgraded to MCBE v1.2.10. You have to choose a specific area far from your main zone because all the chunks you load while in alpha v0.15.10 will be reset. This leads to my POSSIBLE theory about why the chunks are bugged:

The lower version has to reset the Chunks of its higher versions, but when leaving blocks above the height of 128 (alpha v0.15.10 limit), the version detects the information of the blocks that are above the limit, but cannot manipulate that information, so it saves it as a "cache", and when we return to higher versions where the height limit is already 256 (in my case, BE v1.2.10) that information from the Chunks reset that Alpha v0.15.10 could not manipulate is executed, if the game resets a Chunk, it is forced to regenerate it.

My theory (because I have no programming experience) is that resetting the Chunks, by forcing them to regenerate at such massive heights, causes an information overload. This is because these upper Chunks aren't normal (they're a copy of the ones below, but with some very strange variables). They generate strange columns of bug blocks, or as I like to call them, "debug blocks," including blocks without textures, invisible blocks, command blocks, structure blocks, and portal blocks (Nether, End, and Endgateway). If the original Chunk contained a spawner or chest, the chest will be invisible, and the spawner will have no entity. You'll have layers of Bedrock over 128 blocks high. Honestly, if anyone has a more solid theory, I'd appreciate it. What I'm describing is based on my limited knowledge and simple logic.

Finally, what privileges do you have to do this in your Survival world? I risked doing it in my Survival world (because clearly, all this can be done in Vanilla Survival, hence the purpose of this long post) and obtained these blocks: Nether Reactor Core, Glowing Obsidian, Stonecutter (available only in creative) and some Tile Blocks (blocks without textures or names) and fortunately, my main objective, to recover my dragon egg.

Thanks to this project, which I named "Overlaying Phantom Chunks," I'm motivated to continue working on these versions. I feel this could be the start of something big. I've already managed to generate command blocks, structures, and portals with this project. But what about obtaining them as items? That would be the ultimate goal. Although I already have the End Portal and Endgateway, I haven't found a way to get the others. But for now, I'm leaving this record here, not to take credit, but to share information. It's another step in my learning process.

MCPE v1.0 to v1.2.10: A Little Bit About Me The End Dimension

I've always admitted I'm not good at building elaborate things (and even playing since 2015 hasn't helped), so I started thinking, what can I do to make my End dimension look unique?

I thought of something simple, inspired by the End dimension of ElRichMC's Permadeath series, but I also needed to give it my own touch, and after a lot of testing, I decided to use the Ender Crystals glitch, and it was more than enough.

Beta Beacon

As many of you know (and the wiki itself says so), there were beta textures for the Beacon, and in my texture pack, I'd like to use them. However, I can't decide whether to use the 100% original texture with those turquoise blue tones, or instead use a "consistent" version I made myself to better match the crafting.

Honestly, I still haven't decided. If this were your situation, which would you choose?

Red Moon

This is purely out of curiosity (and the photos are with a texture pack). Did the infamous Red Moon actually exist at any point during development? Or was it just a legend?

I truly believe that the people here could satisfy my curiosity and, in the process, learn something new ^^

Survival MSCP: So Close to a Strange Mob

Minecraft PE/BE v1.2.10

A while ago, I encountered an almost full diamond character. Unfortunately, he was missing his boots, and to everyone's dismay: no, he wasn't naturally spawned, he came from a zombie spawner... I was farming experience and zombie villagers to make a typical trading hall when this guy appeared. To my disappointment, he spawned from a zombie spawner and was missing his boots. I didn't have the "CanPickUpLoot" perk to give him the boots.

I kept it hoping it would bring me luck and I'd get one of these naturally spawned, but after a few months, I went to move it and give it a name, and I lost it in the process (I think it fell through the floor and suffocated). Have you ever seen a mob with a diamond piece spawn naturally? This is my only experience with it.

Classic Textures, or More Classic Textures?

Playing MCPE 1.2.10, I like to tweak textures. Sometimes I like the idea of having textures faithful to Java Edition 1.12, and other times, specifically with the blocks I display on screen, I'd like them to have that old Console Edition look. Honestly, I haven't been able to decide, and it would be great to get other people's opinions on this. Which textures do you like best? Which ones would you choose?

Survival MSCP: TNT Entity

MCPE/BE v1.2.10:

I did not think that this mechanism would allow me to obtain this curious entity, many probably already know this bug very well, so I will only comment that: I thought it was impossible to obtain it in old versions.

Survival MSCP: The Unpredictable Water Item

MCPE/BE v1.2.10:

A long time ago, I was digging sand, and some clay block or two, the sand fell, and with my silk touch shovel, efficiency 5 and unbreakable 3, in this version, the action was probably so fast, that a water block that was being updated, bugged and the game thought it was a sand block, giving me the water item

Survival MSCP: Item de EndGateWay

In MCPE/BE v1.2.10, there is a known bug at the time (I found a tutorial for it) where a simple method to obtain this item, totally in vanilla survival, is with a dispenser and a bucket with water.

Placing EndGateWays outside the dimension of the End, unfortunately it only serves a decorative function, it becomes a totally solid "block", but come on, having this is not common in a normal world, and in this version there was only this method.

(If you place these EndGateWays on the main island, there is a chance that they will function as if they were the EndGateWays that spawned when defeating the dragon)

Survival MSCP: The Last Photo in PE 1.0.4 And The "Welcome" to v1.2.10

I have a lot of photos in v1.0.4, but it would be a waste and they are not much worth it, I lasted in this version for a long time and I already wanted to update...

The versions that followed 0.4 (0.5 to 0.9 I think) didn't have anything much, bug fixes, but on the other hand, I didn't play any of the 1.1.x versions, why was that?...

When I tried these versions, it was on my previous device, and for some unknown reason, it generated excessive lag, I had to have minimum graphics to play more or less decently, so I went directly to 1.2.10, at the suggestion of it being a "stable" and optimized version.

When I updated to this version, it actually had good FPS, and only at the beginning, I had a few errors in the chunks, nothing serious, although I lasted the first weeks thinking that the world was going to be corrupted, currently, the world is fine, later I will say why I am currently still on this version.

MCPE/BE v1.2.10: Lower Bedrock Destroyer

Breaking Bedrock blocks in survival mode was little explored in these versions, in my search, I found two base models:

>The first one, I broke the bedrock with the same piston method, the problem? I needed, yes or yes, that next to the bedrock block that you were going to destroy, it had an air block, and when you reach the uppermost layers of the Nether, the ceiling is completely flat.

>The second model, which was based on the first, miraculously fixed the problem, it is a little more inaccurate, it depends a lot on times and ticks (I am very ignorant of the subject, I'm sorry) but it fulfills its function when you get the time.

But I wanted more, my ambition was stopped by a common problem: there were no more tutorials, no information anywhere, so, with little hope and having almost no idea about basic redstone, I tried to adapt the model to create my own and thus...create a third model of the first two machines, so that this one allows you to break bedrock that you have on your feet.

Is there any use in accessing the ceiling of the Nether or the void? Unfortunately not... or so I think, maybe someone here does know, but other than that, at least I will be able to have tickets to these unusual places in survival.

Survival MSCP: "TerriFabs" Project

Minecyraft PE v1.0.4

04/18/23 to 05/02/23

I created this project (which is more of a construction) with a single purpose, to take advantage of the heights of the best generation to obtain diamonds, I admit that I am not good at coming up with decorations, but this was my first pride, a simple base, a "hive" that marks the paths to sting

Currently it has an error, not taking advantage of height 5, where there are diamonds yes, but at the cost of there being lava in the way... and speaking of lava, that Baby Villager Zombie was trapped, I rescued him and now in gratitude (nothing obligated nor is he trapped, wink wink) he is the caretaker of the TerriFabs

Survival MSCP: The Burning Furnace Item

Minecraft PE v1.0.4

04/15/23

I continued my journey through my world (obviously more advanced), and without knowing much about the version, I came across a surprise: using a pickaxe with a silk touch in these versions, just when an oven is cooking some material, it literally drops the item from said oven

Farming this block means that you can have ovens lit throughout your world, while they illuminate, but no... they have no fuel, it is simply decorative

(Post: In current versions, if you have this item and place it, it updates and the oven turns off)

"Survival MSCP" is the name of my personal survival world by the way...
