I Tested All GT3 Shift Points in LMU — Here Are The Results
Hi all,
I was shocked at how much speed you can lose if you shift at the wrong time. I was also shocked at how different the optimal shifting points are for all the GT3’s There is almost no info on the internet about the best shifting points for the GT3’s in LMU. There is only some anecdotal evidence that people tell each other, but you will find nothing concrete.
Luckily for you guys I’ve done a deep dive into the optimal shifting points for all the different GT3’s! I’ve tested 5 to 6 shifting points for each GT3 and I was shocked at how much speed you can lose if you shift at the wrong time. The results may not what you expect.
The testing goes as following:
I have turned on the Tinypedal RPM widget, which goes up 1 bar per 100 RPM. This way I have a way more accurate RPM reading then what Vanilla LMU gives you and can more accurately shift at the exact point I want to shift at.
I’ve done runs on Le Mans and Monza both ways and have started from the exact same point everytime.
I’ve done both Le Mans and Monza, as most cars use a different gear set for standard tracks and Le Mans.
I went both ways on the tracks as it can differ big time which way you go. So this way I have more accurate readings.
I can see the exact acceleration times with another widget in TinyPedal. This way I can accurately calculate how long it took to reach a certain speed.
I’ve written down the test results in this Spreadsheet and analyzed what the best shift point is. I’ve linked this shift point to the in-game HUD rpm counter, the TinyPedal RPM HUD and in-car RPM counter. This way you can decide yourself what you want to use to accurately shift the car.
A little tip:”The red bars in the LMU HUD are almost identical to the red bars of the TinyPedal RPM counter.
You can of course also use a different RPM HUD and match it up to the test results.
