Leah is not ready to manage
Leah may be a good nanny but she doesn’t understand the basics of managing a business. I am only on episode 5 so Leah may redeem herself but I don’t it.
In business school when learning to manage others, you learn the golden rules is to criticize in private and celebrate in public. Yet when Taylor gets fired, instead of talking to Taylor or reaching out to the client, she talks to three people who were present but not directly involved about the incident. Then Leah uses that information to yell at Taylor in front of her whole company. The show never showed Leah reaching out to the client to try and mend the relationship. How this should have been handled was Leah reaching out to the client to apologize and offer to complete the contract for free with another nanny (or even herself). Then spoke to Taylor in person and really made it clear that the client is not her friend.
Another thing is Leah loves to call Taylor out on how she needs to be accountable but refuses to take accountability for sleeping with a client. Like in business, it doesn’t matter what the situation was but how the situation is interpreted. I mean you see companies having to apologize all the time for things being interpreted wrong. But as a business owner, you can just say fuck the clients. I think the biggest problem is Leah has not set professional boundaries with any of her employees. She treats her employees like friends but expects them to treat her like a boss. Like when Leah wanted to speak with Taylor after the pool party, it should have been the next day and in private. Like obviously everyone needed time to cool down and collect their thoughts especially Taylor. Like Taylor should not be put into a position where her boss is wanting to confront her in the middle of the night at the place she lives at. Imagine if it was any other company, and your boss was waiting for you at your home late at night to yell at you. There needs to be professional boundaries like set hours where business can and cannot be discussed. And a situation like what had happened should have not been discussed with wine in their hand. And Leah should not be talking badly about any employee to another employee, it’s inappropriate.
Lastly, I don’t see any benefit of working for Leah’s agency. Like Hannah would have already been working and making money by this point in the summer without Leah’s connections. The only person that has had a consistent job is Leah. As soon as Leah got fired, she found another family and was working. Leah is only looking out for herself and not her employees. The only way I could see this changing is if Leah stepped back for being a nanny and made managing everyone her full time job. She could take like 15% cut from the jobs she finds for her employees. And make it her top priority that everyone be working.
All in all, Leah claims for this to be her dream but this whole business is very poorly planned and very poorly executed.
