live action sci fi movie/TV episode 2000s/2010s

Trying to identify a live-action movie or TV episode I saw as a kid (probably around 2012–2018, but the show/movie may be older).

Teen boy protagonist, serious tone (not colorful like Power Rangers). I think he had dormant powers that got activated somehow—possibly after being in a small spacecraft / exposure to solar radiation / cosmic energy, but this part may be fuzzy. The one scene I’m very sure about: a good-guy mentor figure shows the protagonist disasters happening around the world and reveals that monsters/aliens are responsible for them.

Live action, possibly aired on a kids/teen channel.

Is the isle worth it?

Saw this awesome video of a guy playing as a deinosuchus, but it was highly narrative driven and i don't really get the game play. I love dinosaurs so started digging more, then this video showed up basically trashing the game.

I still don't understand the game would "you" recommend it and if so, why?
