Is there any danger to this?

So, my Casette had some worn gears and I found myself at Decathlon to get a replacement. The kind of casette I wanted, a 12-28 6 or 7 speed wasn't available, but this 12-32 8 speed was the last one and cheap.

The 32 teeth gear is obviously not accessible by the short derailleur, but the rest of the casette is basically exactly what I came for. Haven't fine tuned the limits yet, but they're already fairly accurate without doing anything.

Is there anything to worry about other than the weight of what is essentially a solid metal dork disk?

Was schreist du mich an dafür?!

Soweit so gut. Normaler Tag.

Bringing my road bike to the Netherlands. What to modify?

I'm driving over to the Netherlands at the end of the month to clear my head a little.

Mostly just looking to ride along the beach and do some touristy things in the big cities, doing like 40-80km a day.

I have a vintage road bike that I wanna' bring along for that purpose, but with some time on my hand I might as well prepare it to be my main mode of transport for a week.

- I'm thinking of switching my SPDs to some comfy flat pedals, since I want to walk a lot as well and don't want to do that with cycling shoes.

- I run a cheap no-brand wide street tire in the front right now. I do have proper new road bike tires, but I haven't put them in yet. Should I? The cheap wide tire adds some minimal suspension, courtesy of not being high pressure and has a deeper profile that would probably help with a bit of sand or water. However, it's not exactly new at this point.

- I usually ride the thing with a light cable lock because of the weight and volume, but I think I should get a U-lock for the trip as well.

- I found my dad's old handlebar bag, which I will try to attach for some extra storage.

- There's already a tracker on it, but maybe I can fit a second? Not many hiding spots on the frame tbh.

Any other easy modifications to make it more cozy for the week? Should I keep the cheapo tire? Laws and etiquette I should be aware of?

There's also my eMTB as an option, which is comfier and has a rack, but a big, heavy climbing machine with big knobbly tires sounds really inappropriate for this trip specifically.

Destinations for a week in the Netherlands? Mostly Coastline, Hague, Amsterdam, probably.

I've taken off a week from work on a whim next month (first September week, so when most of the other german tourists should be leaving) and thought of driving over to the Netherlands.

I live decently close to the Germany/Netherlands border, but haven't crossed it since I was a teenager.

Back then I was broke and under supervision, so I never really got to explore much of it, despite spending a decent chunk of time in the country.

I'm a solo traveler interested in scenic bike rides, museums/galleries, parks and just generally getting a feel of the place. Not really one for nightlife, bars and the like.

So yeah. I don't really want to have a strict itinerary or follow some sort of tour. I kinda just want to get on my bike with a camera and see what sort of interesting stuff I can find.

Finding said stuff requires a good starting point and some destinations though, to maximize the amount of neat stuff encountered.

Between my bike and my car, my comfortable range should be around a 50km radius, although I'm not looking to go the maximum distance every day.

My first thought is to get a place somewhere between the hague and Amsterdam and then take day trips to the surrounding cities or the coastline and let myself get distracted along the way, but that's really just my first thought with 0 research done.

So yeah, any cool spots I should put on my list of possible targets? Or things to avoid? Depending on how the list turns out, I'll be deciding where exactly I'll get a place to stay for the week.

Caterpillar Gusion

Had an idea for the cheap knockoff Gusion I had lying around while driving home and got right on it.

First time using masking tape on a model and also my first time using waterslides.

It's a bit messy, considering the quality not being super great to begin with and the spray paints further thickening it. The panel lines had to pretty much be freehanded.

Maybe I can cover that by doing some weathering later, but I am happy with it as it is right now.

My art Discord named it the Union Buster.

Tried out Clipless and pulled my rear wheel loose.

I got some used SPD pedals and some shoes for like 20 bucks and did a quick 5km on my vintage road bike to see how it feels.

Overall I'm quite happy how natural it feels and appreciate the extra power, especially on the climbs.

But when I wanted to test just how hard I can accelerate from idling, I kinda janked the whole rear wheel forward, shoving the tire wall into the frame, very quickly generating the smell of heated rubber and leaving a big mark on my amateurish paintjob.

I assume I didn't tighten the quick release enough and tightened the hell out of it on the side of the road, but now I'm sorta' paranoid that It'll happen again when I am actually going a decent speed.

Any way to make doubly sure that doesn't happen again?

I wanna' replace my rear wheel anyways, if that helps. (Got it as scrap. It's got several minor kinks that I do not have the patience or skill to fix)

Red Fred

First attempt to paint a gunpla with rattle cans.

Great experience overall, but the white I got was kinda really thick, so I scratched some parts in reassembly.

I also lost one of the elbow rings.

Might go back and add more intentional scratches where the paint got chipped.

My man's built like a gibbon

He probably won't stay like that for long.

I bought some sets off of someone's backlog and I'm just kinda' figuring out what I can fit together.

These are the Lupus Rex arms I got on the GQ grandpa by using regular Barbie's shoulders.
