Venting - fussy clients or clients exceptions wanting more but don’t want to pay

New client enquiry looking for a cleaner one day a week, looking for 6-7h, all materials and equipment provided.
2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment, they wanted cleaning, includes everything: changing the bed, do washing, cleaning the fridge, doors, dusting, mopping the floors, cleaning the windows, cleaning the kitchen, two bathrooms,
cleaning the glass doors and mirrors, indoors and outdoors, vacuuming indoors and outdoors on the verandah. Has two dogs

I told her my packages and what’s included and said looking forward to hearing from her. She flatly said “Do not bother, that’s a ripoff”
I didn’t even reply, I was cut from that message.

I do packages, I’m a qualified educator of 8 plus years, 3 yrs in home care and also a mum of two kids.
My packages are home care, hybrid mother’s help, housekeeping.
I have 1 other client with 3 kids and she’s fine with my housekeeping packages and rate.

For housekeeping I charge $50 but that’s the normal rate for Sydney, Australia sole traders, it’s $50 and above.

My packages are:
Home care: social support, domestic assistance, meal prep, wellbeing check-ins, transportation.

Mother’s help: light cleaning, bottle prep/sanitising, laundry, emotional support, respite for parents.

Housekeeping: general cleaning, washing laundry, sort, fold, put away, unpack dishwasher, linens, maintenance cleaning.

No payment from client yet

So last Monday I did a four hour housekeeping job, I gave her my bank details, she said she was going to pay me but still nothing then I reminded her a day or two later, I only contact her through fb business suit.

I was meant to do a job last Thursday and it was booked in and confirmed.
Not even 10 minutes before I started she said she had to cancel because her two kids were sick but she said she’ll still pay me the two hours even I said ok, but it’s not necessary.

Another day passed and I asked for payment again on last Sunday.

I know I’m still getting the gist of running my business and going solo. I probably need to start knuckling down and being firm with clients.

I use Business suit & business WhatsApp for contacting clients, Square for sending invoices out.
At the moment I’m sending it out via text message because I haven’t gotten round to setting up an email address yet. I have a separate business phone.

I sent an invoice link via Square and sent it through business suit, she hasn’t seen me message yet.

What can I do?

German shepherd dog wandered into our front yard and scared my husband

Monday early morning

I woke up with a German shepherd dog barking and a man’s voice unrecognisable.

I looked out my window and saw nothing, I thought I was dreaming of my old dog when I was a kid as I used own a GSD when I was 3 years old.

I came out to see what the commotion was, I scared my husband because it was in the dark and he had a shovel in his hand.
I asked my husband where is the German shepherd and he said how do you know?

He said German shepherd he described it as shorthaired, standard height, but a healthy weight.

Hubby was getting something out of the garage and to put in his van ready for work and the dog standing behind our family car but facing our house until my husband saw the dog, the dog faced my husband was still and staring at my husband, we don’t know where the dog came from, this was early 5am in the morning.

As much as I love dogs 💖 I wanted to help but I had my bub awake with me.

I know I’m an empath and I love all pets and maybe my energy is open, and maybe the dog saw my energy. I’m not sure 🤔

What are you thoughts?

Business advice - Setting rates and being too kind

Hi all,

I’m after some advice, I just started my business a few months ago and I do a combination of mother’s help, housekeeping and home care.

How do you find a medium/balance?
I want to help people and be affordable at the same time, but I’m also qualified diploma with many years experience in childcare & home care.

I genuinely want to help but I also need to support my family.

Please be kind 💕

Nanny Share

Hi all,

Not sure if it’s nanny share or something else.
So I’m a Diplomat educator of 8+ years, I was doing home care as a support worker for 3 years right up to end of January before we moved to a new area for my daughter when she started Kindergarten.

Anyways I’m starting a new thing where I’m a hybrid of Mother’s helper, housekeeper, childminder and some light cleaning.

And I posted on Facebook for advert and a lady contacted me looking for a nanny for her baby son, I can only work 2 days as I have class 1 day a week and the other 2 days he’s home with me, she wants/needs 3-4 days and she wants me to take my son so her and my son can socialise while I nanny.

I’ve not done nannying before, only babysitting & looking after children from 0-5 years in a LDC setting.

How does it work? Do I need insurance for myself?
All I know is her baby is priority, not sure how I feel about that. Maybe I just have to be upfront with her?
I’m not great with confrontation

TIA
