Burying cable from curb to house

Hi there,

So we had a tech come out 2 weeks ago because our internet was down. It was determined that the line was damaged so he put in a temporary line on top of the ground and said someone contact us about installing it permanently. 2 weeks go by and we hear nothing so got onto chat, a new ticket was created and a Ziply employee came out that afternoon (yesterday). He looked it over and said that they will come out and do locating services (probably Friday or Monday)and then bring in a borer to run the new line.

This morning a Ziply employee who says he's here to bury the line, no location services needed because he's just going to bury the line about 4". We were kinda in the middle of stuff working in that area so we asked him to come back tomorrow as we hadn't received any notification that he was coming today. I also told him we would wet the ground out there because it was like concrete (our soil is hard pack clay) to try to make it a little easier for him to dig with a pick axe (Its about 50 feet)and he said no problem.

My question is 4" seems pretty shallow but I don't know what is normal. Anybody have any insight as to how deep it should be? It is just the dirt area to the left of our concrete driveway where we park our truck so no flower beds or anything but it still seems shallow.

Thanks

Denied claim for Community Service provider

UPDATE: We called Community Care and they said this happens all the time and they have already contacted the provider to resubmit the claim with the referral number. They said that should be the end of it but if the Provider ends up sending a bill to us to call Community Care back and they will contact the provider.

Thanks for the help!

Good morning,

My husbands oncologist (VA) asked his primary care doctor (VA) to order a bone density scan aka Dexa scan because she felt he needed this. Not because of his cancer which currently is in remission but because of changes that were seen on his quarterly CT scans.

His primary ordered the scan but because the VA Hospital only had appointments so far in the future she had it done through Community Care at a local, close to us hospital. I have the print out of the referral which states : "You have been approved for Community Care for Community Care-Dexa services" along with Referral # and instructions on how to make the appointment and after services were done to leave a message with the Portland Community Care Office which he did. He also made sure the Community Care provider had his referral number so VA could be billed.

Well we got a denial of claim for this service in the mail stating the reasons as:

  • Treatment was not provided for an acute suicidal crisis
  • Non emergent care must be pre-authorized and this claim was not submitted with an authorization number and that the Community Provider has been notified.

We've got a call into the provider to try and sort this out and hopefully they can resubmit the claim with the referral #. With the claim denial we also got how to appeal the decision with 3 options:

  • Supplemental Claim
  • Higher Level Review
  • Appeal to the Board

In the event I can't sort this out with the provider I'm just not sure which appeal to make? There's no guidance in the letter on which one is appropriate.

Any suggestions would be appreciated as it would be tough to come up with the money to pay for the scan. I think they just saw the service was provided at a hospital and just assumed it was an emergency. Its frustrating.

Thanks!

Ziply Fiber down off of Darnielle

I have Ziply fiber and lost it about 4:30 this afternoon (7/16). Hillsboro HiLight is installing new lines in the area and on our street so I’m sure something got damaged. I believe a neighbor lost their Xfinity last night.

My husband chatted with the guys at the end of our driveway that it would be back on in a few minutes but if they had to repair a line it would be 2 hours but neither happened and everyone has gone home. Anyone else experiencing this and have you heard when it might get fixed?

Thanks

Outage in Hillsboro, OR

Internet has been out since 4:30 Thursday afternoon (7/16) but was told by workers on our street it would be back on in a few moments but that didn’t happen.

Hillsboro Hi Light is on our street and nearby installing new lines so I’m sure something got damaged. I know our neighbor who has Xfinity lost his internet last night.

I’m hoping somebody from Ziply could give me an update on when it will be fixed. The Ziply worker said if they have to repair a line it would be 2 hours to fix so that should have been done about 6:30 or 7.

Any suggestions?
