Eldermore 1.18 Open-source

Eldermore – Source

Hello everyone!

There's still a lot of work to do, so let's keep moving forward together!

Eldermore is an open-source community fan project based on Turtle WoW Patch 1.18.1. Our vision is to reconstruct and bring back ideas that were once planned but never became reality.

We're working on the base of the Tortoise WoW:
https://github.com/Penqle/tortoise-wow

All bug fixes, corrections, and reconstruction related information are documented there. Everyone is welcome to contribute and share their knowledge with the community.

You can follow the current progress of the project here:
https://github.com/users/Penqle/projects/2/views/3

Our community plays a vital role in restoring this unique project. Every piece of feedback, every bug report, and every contribution helps us rebuild Eldermore step by step.

Community Management

We've received many suggestions on how to manage our community and verification process. One of the platforms we evaluated was Stoat. Unfortunately, its API currently doesn't meet the requirements of our concept.
Handling sensitive information would require users to communicate with our bot via direct messages instead of using secure modals. This doesn't align with our standards for privacy or user experience.
Protecting user privacy, maintaining anonymity, and providing a reliable verification process remain our highest priorities. We're continuing to work on a solution that meets all of these requirements.

Finally, thank you to everyone who supports the project whether through feedback, development, research, or simply your enthusiasm for Eldermore. Every contribution brings us one step closer to making this vision a reality.

Eldermore 1.18 Fan Project & Community

Eldermore. A Community-Driven Turtle WoW Fan Project

Hello everyone!

We would like to introduce you to Eldermore. A Turtle WoW fan project with a vision rooted not in profit or competition, but in learning, creativity, development, and shared fun.

The project primarily pursues an educational approach. It aims to give people the opportunity to gain experience in development, learn from one another, and create and play content together. Whether it’s programming, databases, quest design, mapping, lore, or general game development everyone can contribute.

We believe that creativity and storytelling never have to end.

What Eldermore Stands For

A completely non-commercial fan project.

  • No financial interests or profit motives.
  • A friendly community that learns and develops content together.
  • No pressure to progress, no performance anxiety, and no "rushing" to the endgame.
  • The goal is a long-lasting project that evolves alongside the community.

No Monetization

Eldermore is intended to operate entirely without monetization.

While the in-game shop remains in the client for technical reasons, it will contain no content whatsoever for the foreseeable future.

Our aim is to work with the community to develop a long-term concept for providing cosmetic content without payment models, microtransactions, or paywalls.

No Traditional Website

We have also consciously decided against having a traditional website.

All organizational processes will take place centrally via Discord. This not only saves on running costs and maintenance effort but also creates a space where the community can interact directly and work on the project together.

For new members, this initially means joining the Discord, though a permanent Discord account is not strictly required. However, joining is a prerequisite for contributing to the project. Naturally, Discord can be used directly via a browser, so installation is not mandatory. This approach offers us two key advantages:

We can better ensure that no automated bot accounts register.

Discord’s email verification provides an extra layer of security, confirming that there is an actual user behind every account.

Account management can also be handled entirely through Discord. This includes, among other things:

  • Changing your password
  • Resetting your password
  • Changing your email address
  • Deleting your account

Our goal is to make the entire process as simple and straightforward as possible, without needing to operate a dedicated web platform.

Current Development Status

Eldermore is currently based on the Turtle WoW 1.18 codebase, into which initial content from 1.18.1 has already been integrated.

Several zones have already been created, spawned, and populated with NPCs and initial content. However, much of the project is still in the early stages of development and requires further work and refinement.

Open Source Philosophy

A central part of our vision is to develop Eldermore as a fully open-source project.

Everyone should have access to the source code and the opportunity to actively contribute to its ongoing development. Whether you can code, write quests, build worlds, maintain databases, develop lore, or simply want to learn. Every contribution is welcome.

Our goal is to carry forward the original vision of a community-driven project and to implement new ideas together.

Launch?

It has not yet been decided how or when the project will be released.

Possible options include:

  • a completely fresh start,
  • a progression-style launch starting from version 1.17,
  • or a launch based on version 1.18.

We do not want to make this decision alone.... instead, we want to discuss and vote on it together with the community.

Once a path forward has been agreed upon, future content will be released gradually in line with development progress.

Interested? If our vision resonates with you, we would be delighted to welcome you to our community.

Whether you want to actively develop, test, contribute ideas, or simply be part of a long-term community project—everyone is welcome at Eldermore who is passionate about creating something or being involved.

New Informations about Eldermore probably Patch 1.18

There is new information about Eldermore.

https://preview.redd.it/1b4hdq7x9hah1.png?width=1298&format=png&auto=webp&s=fc486241fe7946a6221ce7856bbd50019dc73c51

It looks like things are heading in an international direction after all. Well, there probably wouldn't have been enough interest for a language specific server anyway. Still, I'm hyped and curious to see how the content will be implemented.

Another Server based on Turtle ? Eldermore
