Rest in Peace Hemi

"Such short little lives our pets have to spend with us, and they spend most of it waiting for us to come home each day. It is amazing how much love and laughter they bring into our lives and even how much closer we become with each other because of them." These words ring extremely true with our Great Pyrenees Hemi who we rescued. From the day we first brought him home he fit in with our family with ease. I’m truly going to miss seeing him laying in the back yard sprawled out enjoying himself. When I get home from work him nestling his head between my legs so I can scratch his back while he stretches his back legs out. Seeing him do a little lip quiver when we’d be on the boat as he loves the feeling of the breeze against his fur. Whenever I had a rough day at work, Hemi would always be there to put the stress of the day behind me by being the fluffiest lap dog I ever knew. He loved to go boating, relaxing up the camp in the mountains, long walks and going to the beach with us too. It was truly heartbreaking to seeing our boy the picture of health slowly declining for the worst over the past month and a half.

He started having mobility problems in mid April. We’d always help him up off the floor occasionally so he could go outside and do his business. But over the past three weeks he’d whimper and yelp letting us know that he needed help. We had to utilize a dog harness to help him get off the floor all the time so he could get up and walk around.

“Nobody can fully understand the meaning of love unless he’s owned a dog. A dog can show you more honest affection with a flick of his tail than a man can get through a lifetime of handshakes.”

Love your pets with all the love and affection you can give them.

We will always remember that sparkle in your eyes, playful spirit and most importantly all the unconditional love you have showed us for 14 and a half years.

We love you so much Hemi ❤️ 09/15/11 - 05/22/26
