To stay or to leave my current job

Hi all, I’m in a bit of a indecisive state. I want to start off by saying I love where I work and the people I work with, the problem is the commute, I commute 52 miles each way to work. I lived closer when I started there. With the gas prices how they are I’m getting ate alive in gas spending. I on average spend close to $550 a month in gas. I live alone so I don’t have anyone to help with bills etc. anyway, my step father offered me a job in my town (.4 miles each way) doing the same line of work but a different position. They are gonna match my pay that I make now. I know that it sounds like a no brainer.

Both places are Auto Detailing shops. Right now I work M-F, 8-4. If I took the position I would have to work at least one day during the weekend. He says most people work Saturday to have Sunday, Monday off. The hours there are 8-5. I’m currently a shop supervisor, I don’t slave while I’m at work, the new position would be a mobile crew member, so out on the road detailing in the elements. This is prob the biggest thing that makes me wanna second guess thinking of going. My family thinks I should take the position in my town until I can find something I’m more happy with that isn’t such a commute. Any insight or pushes in either direction will definitely be appreciated.

So in the 4ish years I’ve been cruising this sub and other forums, I’ve seen a TON of sticky clutch threads. I’m adding to it because mine seems different than some. Mine just started about 3 weeks ago and at first it was very rare for it to happen, now it’s just random, it might do it 3 times a drive it might not do it all day. I’ve been monitoring brake fluid since the first time it happened, it hasn’t moved a bit. So it’s not leaking anything that I can notice to point it towards master/slave cylinder. Now I’ll try my best to explain when and how it happens.

It almost always does it on the 1-2 shift, and where it sticks the clutch is engaged, I can pop it back up with my foot and there’s a pretty distinct click noise. I’ve also left it stuck and then did the 2-3 shift and it returned fine. Clutch pedal feels normal. For giggles I looked under the dash and seen the clutch spring was very gummed up, with dirt and dog hair, the rod for the master cylinder was also pretty gritty, I cleaned everything and regreased it all, and didn’t do it on my drive home from work.

Is it possible that the spring is wearing out? Or is it the master or slave just working its way out? Could it possibly also be air that just needs bled out? I’m hoping just a clean and grease solved it but I cant get my hopes up. I could tackle the master cylinder but the slave is above my mechanical skill. My extended warranty doesn’t cover either which kinda sucks. Any insight or advice will be greatly appreciated!!
