Job Application Asking for Supervisor Name and Title - Should I list if they fired me?
I'm a soon-to-graduate master's student applying for my first full-time job on GovernmentJobs.com right now, and they are asking for the supervisor's name and title for each of my previous positions. The issue: I was fired without warning from my most recent internship due to performance concerns. I had been there for 6 months and it's likely one of my strongest/most relevant experiences for the jobs I'm applying for (I did a lot of Excel/data management).
Now, I technically had 2 supervisors: One was quite nice and supportive, while the other had the most issues with my work and fired me (My official supervisor according to HR systems).
Would I be better off keeping the experience on my resume and giving the name of either supervisor, or just removing the position entirely to avoid any possible slander?
Note: HR at this organization (government agency btw) assured me that they could only reveal dates of employment and title to employers reaching out. Although I'm not sure if employers will attempt to contact my previous supervisors directly, assuming I give them names/titles. I do not have to provide the phone numbers for my previous supervisors, thankfully.
Any advice is much appreciated!
