Christmas market Danube cruise - French balcony vs. deck 1 window cabin?

We’re considering Viva Two’s westward bound Danube Christmas market cruise in 2027. We’re thinking there’s no need for a French balcony during the colder months and we would probably prefer the less expensive window cabin.

However, I don’t necessarily want to be looking at a riverside wall (window view) when we’re docked. Is there a better side (port or starboard) that would more commonly have the open river view?

Or is the lower deck window view not an issue in general? Also, is there a difference in temperature comfort in either cabin type (in December)?

What excursions would you recommend west coast Mexico NCL Encore: Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta

Encore cruise Feb 2027. We don’t feel the need to necessarily get off the ship at every port, when it might be more relaxing to stay on board. But we would like to experience some culture, architecture, local life, and food. Maybe we’d just walk the ports on our own to look around.

We’re not beach people. We’re not ones looking for jewelry or cheap mass produced trinkets. We have zip-lined and snorkeled in the past. I’m considering a cooking class in Mazatlan.

Which excursions did you enjoy? Are the 3 port cities (downtown or interesting areas) close to walk to from the NCL port, or do you have to take a bus or other transit to get there? Any other port recommendations, sights, restaurants?

How do you track or remember your favorite (and not favorite) authors

I realize similar questions have been posted in the past to this group, but I think this is a slightly different slant.

I am currently tracking my reads on Goodreads and StoryGraph (just started using StoryGraph this calendar year). Each have their positives and negatives for tracking books read.

But as I’m into my 4th year of being heavily into the MM Romance genre (and so many books under my belt now), I’m finding it more difficult to keep in mind the specific authors I’ve grown to love - as well as the ones I want to avoid reading again.

I’m strongly considering starting a separate excel spreadsheet for the purpose of categorizing best & worst authors.

Has anyone else felt this same difficulty for remembering liked/not liked authors? What sort of tracking have you tried? What do you rely on for remembering your authors?
