Has anyone done the Today Show plaza recently? What time do you recommend getting there? Any other tips for visiting the Today Show?

What time do you recommend making a reservation for dinner pre-show? I’m looking at Joe Allen unless you all have other great suggestions. For the show we are looking at Two Strangers or Just in Time which both have 8:00 curtains.

Does anyone have tips or suggestions for doing a plaza visit? This will be my first time in NYC and I'd love to visit the show. It will be a Friday or Monday in August (not concert days). What time should I get there? Where's the best place to stand? Any other tips?

Hi all - I am planning my first trip to NYC. I've been doing a lot of research and reading about making sure to combine things that are nearby, but I'm still struggling with the itinerary. We are traveling in August, will be arriving at noon on Thursday, flying out Monday night and staying near Rockefeller Center.
These are some of the top attractions we'd like to see:
-Today Show
-NBC Tour
-Top of the Rock
-New York Public Library / Bryant Park
-Grand Central, 5th avenue shopping
-9/11 Museum and Memorial
-Ellis Island
-Brooklyn Bridge and DUMBO
-Broadway show / Times Square
-Central Park
I've started putting together a plan, but am very open to feedback and suggestions to improve the trip. Also if there are other awesome things to see for a first timer, let me know.
Thursday, August 20
Arrive at airport - use public transportation to travel to hotel to drop off bags
Take a walk around the block by the hotel to see what is around and get food
Take subway to Brooklyn Bridge and walk across Bridge
Explore DUMBO, Manhattan bridge photo spot, Pebble Beach, dinner in DUMBO Area (Time Out Market)
7:00 p.m. Walk back across the Brooklyn Bridge during sunset/golden hour
Evening snack - Times Square Serendipity 3? Frozen ice cream; Central Perk coffeeshop
Friday, August 21
6:15-9am: Today Show Plaza visit (need to fill out form once we confirm if we are going that day)
Get breakfast or a snack - lots of food places in Rockefeller Center
10:40 a.m. NBC Tour (timed tickets)
-plan for two hours
1:00 p.m.
Radio City Music Hall
St. Patrick’s Cathedral
LEGO Store
FAO Schwartz
Other shops heading down 5th avenue towards library
Get snacks or lunch along the walk
Grand Central Terminal

Keep walking down 5th or 6th avenue to Macy’s
