I'm trying to create a tapered spiral for one of these snail spire shells. I thought it would be easy but... obviously it's not working out like I thought it would. Any workaround to this?

This guy is 55cm tall and totally unpainted. All coloration is done using different colored pieces.

Pretty good results imo.
