Vinyl Collection Before Downsizing

  1. Unbox Industries, 2. PIX!, 3. SuperPlastic, 4. Funko, 5. Mighty Jaxx, 6. Misc Video Game Figures, 7. Other Misc Figures

Hey guys. Given circumstances, I’m gonna have to start downsizing some of my collection of vinyls, particularly to make way for DesignerCon in a few months. Before I do that, though, I wanted to share the current state of my collection, both as a personal memo but also to garner thoughts on what may or may not be worth hanging on to. Thanks.

Is there any real merit to collecting YouTooz Figures?

Hey All. So something that I've taken notice of amidst my hobby of collecting vinyl figurines, indie toys and sofubi figures, is that alongside Funko Pops, there seems to be an indifferent or negative outlook towards YouTooz figures. I have become aware of some of the controversies around their production and distribution lines, but it seems like even online nobody cares to buy anything related to them, even secondhand.

While I don't agree with all their practices, I can't deny that I've found a few pretty cool figures for indie games and shows I'm a fan of that have some genuinely distinct and cool designs, and which don't cost quite as much as some other figure types from similar distributors. However, given this apparent view that the vinyl collectors market seems to hold towards YouTooz, I can't help but wonder if it's really worth it to continue collecting vinyls from this group, or if it'd be better to stop and cut my losses. Once again, I'm open to any discussion and insight you guys might have on the matter.

Created my first figure brand, opinions

Hey everyone !! first-time poster here. I just finished the first run of figures for a brand I started, Guers Art I'm honestly really proud of how they turned out but I have no idea how they read to people outside my own head.

These are resin / hand-sculpted, hand painted and this batch took me about 2 months to get from sketch to finished piece.

I went with a beaver as the subject because it's basically a walking symbol of where I'm from (Canada); stubborn, hardworking, builds things nobody asked it to build. Felt like the right first piece to put my name on.

A few things I'd genuinely love feedback on:

  • Sculpt/proportions / anything look off?
  • Any coloring/theme suggestions for the future drops?
  • General feedbacks overall

Thank you in advance!

Haul is kind of an understatement. over the couple of days i will post what i have and if there are any labbit enthusiasts, then I think you will like what I have to offer. if im going against some rules my bad. This hoard was built over a 10 year period so i think some pieces will be desirable.

Any other Agan fans in the building?

And where do you get them that's not Ali express? I've had some luck with strang cat, my plastic heart, and meaning less art.

Before Kidrobot made Dunnys..

Before Kidrobot made Dunnys, they produced a Qee series with Toy2R.

Here are a few toys from series 1 and 2.

I believe they were produced in 2002 or 2003. They are still in the box and have never been opened.

The brown one and the blue one were designed by Tristan Eaton. Unfortunately I don’t remember who designed the other two.

Gold Dunny from series 1 (paint oxidized over decades..🙁)

I was going through some of my bins this morning and pulled out this bad boy! This is a Chase from Dunny series 1. Unfortunately the gold paint oxidized because it is close to 25 years old. I’ve got the crown buried away somewhere, I just have to find it to make him complete.

We made new sofubi molds for Scuttlebutt Toys' Balena water spouts or: How I Never Learned to Stop Worrying but Love the Process

Production Log: It’s been a 4-year voyage with new discoveries yet to be revealed…

The Balena sofubi is based on the sea monster from Olaus Magnus’ 16th-century map, The Carta Marina. On it, and in several incarnations since, she is featured spouting torrents of water (affectionately called her “spoots”). Originally we had hoped to pull these as one piece. However that was deemed impossible as they would have had to be removed from the mold base-first, and the top curls of the torrents would simply not escape the narrow passage of the base.

Sacrifices were thus made to Poseidon for favorable pulls.

Version 1 of the spouts was divided into two pieces and joined together. The factory opted for glue on some runs. This was not ideal. A cutting method was developed (thanks to Kaiju Canvas) that allowed for a more “traditional” joining sans the glue. This method, while functional, was still time consuming. The bases of version 1 of the spouts were also difficult to seat into The Balena’s blowholes.

A second version was made. Thanks to the ingenuity and initiative of the factory in Japan, version 2 of the spouts was developed and molded. These now join at the top with no glue and seat more securely with a satisfying “plop” thanks to a plug at the base.

The first run of these version 2 spouts, pulled in clear vinyl and stuffed with tinsel, will be made available for FREE to those that purchased one of the first two runs.

SPK Speaker Family 2 - Kidrobot

Opened a full sealed box of 4 cases containing a total of 80 Jason Siu figures. It appears the pull rate for the ?/? "Crums" figure is roughly 3:40. I'm super happy to have a complete set, now just searching for the original Speaker Family set from 2004.

Last photo shows duplicate figures I'm willing to sell/trade if anyone is interested. :)
