Overpay mortgage vs Investment, which is better?

I understand that usually investments outperform and therefore growth takes priority over mortgage debt, however these are my circumstances.

Mortgage is £960 per month. £190k outstanding and 24 years to run at 2.7%.

It expires in December and will go up to c5%, pushing repayment up to about £1,200.

My issue is I have £130k from a business very recent sale that’s currently cash. If i put it into invesments its 24% capital gain and a HYSA is 40% on growth.

So ultimately in my head it’s whether the growth MINUS those rates equal more than 5%? If not then overpaying the mortgage feels more sensible?

How best to Exchange old £20 notes?

My dad has been saving cash away for a rainy day and amassed £20k in old bank notes. The catalyst for finally wanting to give it to his kids was his brother dying and worrying about his own mortality.

The irony is now it’ll look odd paying in £20k of cash around the same time his brother will also leave him money.

What’s the best way to get the cash in his account?
Call the bank? Call BoE?

Am I doomed to work until 67/68?

42m on £61k.
Pension £230k
ISA £30k
GIA £240k
Crypto £30k
House £530k

Mortgage £180k 1 year remaining at 2.2%.

Take home £3.5k
Bills £2k

Wife and 2 kids

Don’t really know what I should be doing with my £240k. £20k per year into VWRP but the rest I’m tempted to at least overpay my mortgage to my 10% free limit.

Maybe FIRE at around 60 if i can create enough of a bridge as pension will hopefully be ok by 67.

Retirement i’d only need £40k per year really.
