Dorito Acquired

Just joined the rotary cult today!

She's a 2006 with 120000km on the odometer and a valued new member of the garage!

While the outside is in amazing shape with very minimal rust (that ive been able to find so far). It will need to pass an emissions test before I can take her out on the roads for real.

Should I get a new coils and cat straight away or would just new coils have a notable effect on HC emissions?

Compression question

Now, this is a question that has been asked before but here goes. I'm potentially about to go check out an 8 that seems very promising for a decent price. However I do not have a rotary compression tester in hand for it.

Will a normal piston tester with the schrader valve removed and a good camera be enough to at least know if I will need to rebuild now or later? Along with the normal hot start test and such ofcos.

I know it's not optimal but would it at least help make a more educated guess of its condition?

OpenFit 2+ VS AeroFit 2 Pro

So it's time for me to finally get a set of nice earbuds for work and but I've gotten a little overwhelmed and could use a few pointers to help pick a pair.

I work in a factory with a generally not too loud environment. The policy on earbuds are that youre allowed to have one in so that you can still be alert to your surroundings.

I have also never truly gotten in ear silicone tips to work for me. They slide out, sit weird and block the sound or are just generally uncomfortable to me. No idea why, maybe I just got really weird ears.

I really would like good sounding ones, but I also value the microphone quality as we do sometimes need to make calls.

Taking all this into consideration I've narrowed my search down a little to the following two options.

- Soundcore AeroFit 2 Pro

- Shokz OpenFit 2+

Are there any other, potentially better options in this price range ($150-$250)?

RX8 in the snow

Hey there!

After many nights of scrolling through marketplace and youtube videos my brain has developed a crush for the rotary. While I (and everyone else) would of course love an RX7, they are simply unobtainium here.

Now, I've done my fair bit of research and I'm no stranger to performing maintenance myself or even rebuilding the engine if the seals fail (though I would rather buy a good running one).

The one big question is simply put, how does the rotary fair in the cold? During winter we regularly see temperatures as low as -20°C. Would an RX8 handle the winter?

For the record the car that it would be replacing is a 1996 Volvo 940 Turbo (that I'm going to miss a ton). how bad of a time would I have come november?

tl;dr

Can the RX8 get me through the snow and cold as a daily driver?
