Jabra equivelant

I have used the Jabra elite 7 Active for years now and I really like the fit and user buttons. The left one has finally died off and I want to find something in the $80-$150 range that is comparable.

I am not too worried about the fine details of how they sound. I like the fit, the battery life, and the call quality. I mainly only use hear-through and off. I don't use the ANC much at all.

The things I am worried about in order:

  1. fit and comfort
  2. Call quality
  3. battery life
  4. sound

Seems hard to find any Jabra buds since they discontinued them.

I have been looking at Sennheiser, Technics, and Anker so far.

What would you recommend?

The technics AZ100 are meh…

This sub has been glazing the AZ100 to death so when I tried them, I was hoping for something revolutionary but instead I got something that sounds too warm & the bass was kinda muddy. The soundstage & imaging was decent but the timbre just felt off especially with vocals it just felt unnatural. It’s all based on my personal experience at the end of the day

Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro Max arriving tomorrow — testing call quality vs Huawei FreeBuds Pro 5 and the new voice commands. Any specific tests you want to see?

The call quality claims are interesting, so I'll put those head-to-head against the Huawei FreeBuds Pro 5 right away.

They've also added voice commands (similar to the Galaxy Buds series), which I'm keen to try out — curious how responsive they actually are in daily use.

Full review in a few days. In the meantime, if there's anything specific you'd like me to test, drop it in the comments.

Expect a lot of YouTube reviews on these (heavily Soundcore-influenced, no doubt), but if you know me, you know I cut straight to the point — no bullshit. The specs look great on paper. Let's see how they hold up in the real world.

What reviewers do you follow?

Currently looking at alternatives for the QCY HT08 but can handle my sweat-filled gym sessions (Soundcore R60i/P31i is my current choice). I've been using AI recently just to get some recommendations but clearly it's not a great place to accounts regarding sound quality, longevity, etc.

Do you guys have any reviewers whether they be on Youtube, Websites, Reddit, that you follow don't necessarily sound like a shill for certain brands? I mean, I follow Audio Amigo for wired IEMs and others but what about the Earbud equivalent of him?

Im looking to spend around $100 CAD or less. Im looking for a pair with great sound quality and comfort, I dont care much for noise canceling, but it would be a nice bonus.

Are galaxy buds 4 pro good?

So ive been searching for earbuds recently, and im wondering if the Galaxy buds 4 pro a good option.

Also im not using a sumsung galaxy phone, hut i don't really need the advanced features. Also theyre about the price of soundcore liberty 4 pros for me, i cant say the exact price since the prices of earbuds as a whole is pretty weird in my country.

Ear bud recommendation

I’m looking for earbuds that have some level of noise cancellation (doesn’t need to be crazy), sound good, have great battery life, and are easy to connect to an iphone. I’m looking to spend around $150 or less.

They’re generally used at home for podcasts, often while blowdrying my hair. I really just need something thats a good value with some noise cancellation.

Recommendation please

Hi everyone,

I am wondering if anyone can recommend a pair of noise cancelling earbuds that I can wear while sleeping?

My neighbours have recently bought an air purifier or maybe a dehumidifier not sure which, they keep it on all night, the low vibration noise is travelling through are very thin walls and keeping me awake.

I've never had earbuds before so am at a loss of which ones to look at. Does anyone here wear them whilst sleeping if so which ones do you use or recommend?

Reversing Liberty Buds fins = way better fit (quick mod)

I recently picked up the Soundcore Liberty Buds and liked the idea of the fins, but even after following the fitting guide, they kept falling out due to my ear shape.

After some experimenting, I tried reversing the fins and they actually stayed in way more securely.

Problem:
The fins aren’t designed to be installed backwards. They’ll attach loosely, but a small T-shaped piece of plastic stops them from seating fully.

Fix (quick mod):
I used a Dremel with a cylindrical grinding stone to file down the stem of the "T" into more of a straight bar.

  • Takes a couple of minutes
  • Just remove a little at a time and test fit
  • They can still be clipped on the regular way if you want to go back to that fit

Result:

  • Fins now stay securely attached to the buds
  • Buds fit much better in my ears
  • They still fit in the charging case with no issues (even with Size 3 fins)
  • No need to remove fins when charging

Overall, way more comfortable and secure now, with a solid seal and no constant readjusting.

Earbud Reccomendations

I’m looking a new pair of earbuds that are very reliable. My last pair of earbuds were AirPod pros I think gen 2 or something? But I’ve literally abused them into the ground lol. I mainly do manual labor for work and it varies, could be moving stuff around in a warehouse or outside working. I’m mainly asking you guys if you have any recommendations for good earbuds that would suite me well and last me a while. The price doesn’t necessarily matter but I don’t wanna spend an insane amount on earbuds of course. If you guys know if any good pairs that suite me please comment 🙏.
Edit: I forgot to add some info that may or may not be helpful? I have an iPhone and I don’t really have a preference for what brand or type they are as long as they work well. 🫪

Looking for earbuds in the 120-140$ price range.

I have little to no experience with any earbuds. Can anyone recommend me something in 120-140$ price range with good price to perfromance? The main factor for me is sound quality and battery life, the anc doesn't really matter for me.

Something ANYTHING with a good microphone for outdoor use and noise cancellation

Please send me anything u got. I bike and run a lot and I like to call friends when I am on my bike. There’s wind and background noise and it’s often impossible for anyone to hear me unless I’m screaming like a mad man. Please send me recs for something with a good microphone. I also love noise cancellation and something with good button controls. I like the AirPods except the mic is terrible. Just lost my right AirPod so I’m taking this as an opportunity to possibly switch to something new.

My current method is to carry wired headphones and switch to those when I want to make a call so I can hold the mic directly in front of my mouth but for obvious reasons… I hate this lifestyle.

Ps. I also do metal fabrication and I think steel particles may be killing my earbuds? I need something indestructible :D

Please help!! Thanks

Devialet Gemini I

Are there no perfect earbuds yet? (Wf-1000XM5 and Huawei Freebuds 5 Pro)

Hey all,

I just got some Huawei Freebuds 5 Pro yesterday and I'm...dissapointed.

I guess I got too hyped up from all the posts saying they are the best thing ever.

I have used the Sony Wf-1000xm5 for some time but unfortunately the left one died recently, so I thought it's a good time to look for "the perfect earbuds" for me.

While the XM5 have great sound and ANC, there were some things I didn't like about them: Most importantly, I really hate the way they handle the controls. For those who don't know: on either earbud you have to decide whether you can toggle the ANC/Ambient mode OR start/stop/skip songs. So when I'm just using the left earbud while listening to a podcast (which I do quite often), I always have to pull out my phone whenever I want to start / stop. The volume controls are also quite bad (tapping the left / right earbud at least 4 times for - / + volume) as the touchpads don't register the touch half of the time and you end up skipping a song accidentally.

Other than that, I also didn't really like the foam tips which did fit my ears bud were not comfortable for longer than one hour. So I bought some AZLA silicone tips and they were great. They were comfortable and really made the XM5 feel "light" (I don't know how else to describe it - Foam tips give me a feeling of being separated from my surroundings which silicone tips don't do).

So there I was, looking for a "light" pair of earbuds with great sound, ANC and controls. I stumbled upon all the posts praising the Freebuds 5 Pro and after some research, I bought them.

When I tested them yesterday for the first time, I was immediately disappointed by the sound. Coming from the XM5, the sounds all seem to mix. I know sound can be very subjective and I wouldn't say I'm an audiophile. And still, it seems like such an obvious difference between the sound quality of these 2 pairs of buds.

Don't get me wrong, the sound is "good". They really don't sound bad. Depending on the genre, they can even sound very good. But a soon as I play a "busier" genre like metal core or some kinds of rock or punk music, everything just starts to blend together whereas with the XM5 you can clearly hear the different instruments.

From what I read, the Freebuds are supposed to play in the same league as the XM5 and other flagship models. Well...

The next thing is the ANC:

Based on my first tests, I think that the ANC is pretty impressive, considering the thin silicone tips.

However, when I sat in the train, there was a really uncomfortable booming feeling in the ears (the same thing that happens when driving fast in a car while having only one window open). I also had the XM5 with me for comparison and the anc worked as it should and there was no such uncomfortable feeling.

Finally, that lead me to turning off the ANC, which should really not happen...

Do you also experience similar things with these buds?

Am I missing something?

Is there a possibility I got a bad pair? (I don't really think that).

I didnt yet see the option to change the codes to high res, but from my experience, for me changing codecs doesn't make make big difference.

Do you have recommendation for the custom eq? I managed to improve the sound a little bit, but it still doesn't come close the the quality of the Sonys.

I really want to like these buds. I love the controls, the look and that they have many features missing other earbuds, like 360° sound (that doesn't suck), multipoint, a 10 band eq and so on.

Right now I'm a bit lost.

I'm between keeping them dipite the things that I don't like (the easiest option), buying another pair of used XM5 and looking for different buds.

Before stumbling upon the Freebuds, I was eyeing the Samsung Galxy buds 4 Pro that also got pretty good reviews over all. The even higher price (and a post on reddit comparing them to the Freebuds pro 5) was keeping me from buying them but right now I a considering it..

P.S.:

I also already tested the Pixel buds 2 Pro (liked almost everything except the ANC) and the JBL Tour pro 3 (great (!) sound but bad controls and huge case).

Sorry for the long post. Maybe someone has a tip for me (regarding the Freebuds 5 pro or other buds to consider) or can otherwise at least get something useful out of it :)

Liberty 5 Pro Available in Philippines

It looks like you can now purchase the Liberty 5 Pro from Soundcore's Philippines website. The price is equivalent to $170 USD. No sign of them on the US website yet.
