Is it ok to trim plants a little each week?

Have an HOA and a front yard that's full of plants thriving with the monsoons.

in the past, I've just paid landscapers to come after the season is over to trim the plants down.

This year, I'm thinking of cutting them myself- but doing a little at a time. Cutting just enough to fill my trash bin each week.

Will this be detrimental to xeriscape desert bushes vs one big trim you think?

when do you stop checking that tesla app multiple times a day after getting solar?

Got solar 2 weeks ago and I swear I'm obsessed with my power generation/usage now. Love checking battery level, how much power i'm stealing from the sun, and what i'm using.

How long does it take until the fun in checking that goes away to a reasonable level?

Dust in house question-

Recent dust being flung around the sky everywhere made me wonder what was normal here-

Been in area a yearish- live with a pack a day smoker and i feel like there's so much dust/soot when i clean. have a few air purifiers in a few main rooms, but i swear the amount of particles on surfaces is not normal. - think it's the smoking? just living in the dang windy desert? a mix?

is a catio a bad idea?

I have been debating creating an outdoor area for my cat for a while- covering patio then adding netting for walls- then cat stuff for the inside... literally just hit me that monsoons might really mess with it.

Anyone make one with their patio? how do they deal with the winds/rain? just let it dry. is it a pain? not worth it?

Does every human on Earth speak the same language?

I think about the universal translator magic occasionally- Was wondering if eventually every Earth human grew to learn the same language to communicate or they all just kept their regional languages and trusted the translator to do the heavy lifting?

and if it's the 2nd... are people really learning the same language in Japan or is that magic translator doing even more heavy lifting and when people start drifting from the norm, it autocorrects what people hear and not what people say so really after a century or 2 of universal translators, people just make up their own languages and the translator pushes what we need into our ears (and i assume our eyes because people can read alien stuff too with it)

Wind/rain has blown off solar screen- ideas how to stop this?

Today was the 2nd time in a year the wind has blown off a solar screen at my house- I bought/added some screen clips after the first time it happened - 1 problem is somehow the screen clips are slightly smaller than when I originally bought them (reordered same thing from home depot) so driver is funky about pushing them in.

Anyways- anyone have similar issues with good fixes?

50% off first cash purchase question

is it literally FIRST ever cash purchase? or first after clicking the link? If first ever, i get why i am not seeing the coupon applying, but also, if that's the case, what a scam coupon.

Can't tell if this question is a rant/complaint or question/help request. Sorry. I wouldn't mind buying a book cheaper than a credit though...

How to use 2000 in Home Depot gift cards?

Edit-- Thanks for all the help- I think I have a good idea on how to use use the gift card. Thanks again all!

TLDR- I have 2200 in home depot gift cards and about a year to use them- I live in the SW desert, 30 year old house with tons of deferred maintenance- Would love ideas on how to use the gift card funds-

-- longer-- recently retired and closing a credit card with tons of reward points and a large annual fee- best use seemed home depot gift cards- I do understand other stores are possibly cheaper for most of what I want, but they didn't have point to gift card options I could use

already bought new kitchen faucet, leaf blower, shopvac, smoke detectors, power drill/driver, and starting to get stuff to seal my attic

--- thinking of spending the funds on:

new fridge (1200ish?) -- still runs, but 30 years old and i hear the compressor running almost all the time

more money into attic sealing (200-500?)

xeriscape -- (who knows money) - can buy plants and plant food, but not a priority

blinds?? -- 30 yr old blinds -- could work towards honeycomb blinds to reduce heat going into house

washer/dryer- 30 yr old also- but rather wait till they break (and rather get fridge first)- low usage

garage door insulation (100ish) - lowest rung of things i will get probably

Edit-- thanks for responses/answers- looked at dps meter at end- yes 1/30 not 1/3 dps, was a demo lock, assume low dps because dead most the time, but i wasn't watching as to what- i was inviting each group individually, so not a paid carry at least- It was my only failed dungeon, doing 10's now and downgrading them as i finish so i can hit all at 10- zero toxicity in groups--- even group from post, i was blaming myself at first- I want to have an enjoyable, maybe challenging time.-- Thanks again for responding!

Read enough positivity here to try Mythics for the first time, tanking, and one button rotation- Did a +2 fine, then get a group for +4 mythic and 260ilvl player doing 1/30 my dps (im 262ilvl)- dying constantly and I'm already overwhelmed trying to just remember mechanics, follow the path, remember to interrupt... tank stuff (added internal anxiety i probably dont need for no reason)

- dying dps goes in chat - "i dont know why i keep dying"- i dont have time to watch them play. we almost kill 3rd boss of 4 before timer runs out. group breaks-

Question- when/how do you deal with this? i feel a dps doing literally 1/30 my dps and dying constantly is not going to work in a m+ -

do you just abandon early in this situation? is there a way to remove them and add someone else? try to suffer through the dungeon? I get sunk cost fallacy and all... and people (me/others) trying to learn... but not improving/understanding mistakes nearly the whole way through seems like something i cant help correct mid dungeon.

- seriously looking for what the culture is here- to be fair, i'm running "learning" mythics. is that my fault?
