“Re-drawn” AI decks being sold as “hand-drawn” on Kickstarter
People are using AI to create tarot decks, editing them by hand to remove obvious tells, then selling them as fully human-made, “hand-drawn” decks.
I recently saw one of these blow past its funding goal in no time. It’s the second well-funded kickstarter deck I’ve seen in a matter of months who has done what I described above, blatantly lying to the people purchasing these decks. Both have thousands of supporters and have reached funding almost immediately, because people take these sellers at their word.
Please, if a deck looks too good to be true, message the creator and ASK QUESTIONS. If there is zero to very minimal detail about the artist and/or creative process, be suspicious. Look up the artist’s other works. Do your due diligence. It infuriates me that people are scamming people like this and getting away with it.
Edit: I did not add the deck names in my original post, because this is of course something that is difficult to prove 100%. That said, however; if any of you are considering purchasing either The Secret Garden Tarot or Caminante Tarot, I implore you to first contact the creators of the respective kickstarter pages. Ask them how the decks were made, how long it took, and if they can provide decent evidence of the creative process. If they name an artist on their kickstarter, look into the artist’s previous artwork. Judge for yourself.
