Issue with how Cosmic handles Audio/Pipewire

So i have very fidgety headphones that come off super easy.

With Kde plasma, if i set my speakers to 5%, and my headphones to 100%, if i unplugged my headphones, the speakers would go back to being 5%.

On COSMIC, however, (Tested on PopOS) if i set my speakers to 5%, then my headphones to 100%, if i unplugged my headphones, my speakers would blast at 100%

Which is very scary! I'm wondering if theres anyway to fix this because besides that one issue im a pretty basic user and would love to use cosmic fulltime. Any help is appreciated

My E and 3 keyboard keys arent working (/Working really strangely?)

My e and 3 keys keep dropping out randomly, either for a few seconds or for hours on end. Started a couple days ago out of nowhere. Cleaning the keys/Removing the cap did nothing. I ran evtest to check the raw hardware input and im 99% sure it's not a software/driver thing, Tried booting into other OS’s via usb and i was having the same issues there.

Laptop's about 2 years old and out of warranty. Im open to fixing it myself but i have no idea what to do and google isnt helping tbh.

To be more specific, sometimes it will work for a bit, then the inputs will start lagging, and then itll stop working- sometimes if i spam 3 and e a TON itll start working again for a short period then drop out again.

Yet another question about Portage and Gentoo's Binary packages

Hello! I've read a fair bit on the wiki but ive seen conflicting information online and I wanna make sure i know what im saying.

In the past ive used arch/void and have installed packages and then have to fidget around with it / install a bunch of other stuff to get it to work. When i briefly tried Gentoo, mainly using binary packages, it just seems to work out the box-- and I'm not sure why that is? I assume Portage might just handle dependencies better, but id assume binary packages would be pretty similar to whats shipped on other distros...Whats going on there?

Its made me really consider daily driving Gentoo even though I'd mainly just stick to binaries (I use a laptop for school/work and I mainly just want to set and forget). I understand thats not the Gentoo way, or taking advantage of its features, but idk i prefer the stability of it to something like Arch.

(Thanks to anyone who responds hopefully what I'm asking makes sense)

Which of these two laptops should i install Gentoo on?

Hello! I'm pretty interested in linux/tech and I'm considering installing Gentoo on one of my two laptops i recently repaired.

One is a Dell with Intel CPU, 8 threads, 16GB ram and 500 gb of storage. Pretty nice computer to be honest!

The other is an HP with an Intel CPU, 2 cores, 4GB ram and 64gb of storage.

So some background: A bit ago, i installed Gentoo on my current computer. I ended up switching off because i didn't see much of a performance gain, and i decided i wanted to install it on a backup one to test more (as this is more of a work/college computer and i didnt want to risk anything going wrong.)

My question comes in, While i *know* the first computer would be way better for Gentoo, I'm wondering if i would get more benefit out of using the less powerful computer, so i could physically see the difference of compiling/use flags/tinkering around.

I'd also be completely fine using the more powerful computer, but I honestly wonder if i will understand the distro in the same way since it might just run fine either way. Or am i just overthinking it / putting myself in pain for no reason?

I'm not really good with words or explaining stuff so hopefully you understand what i'm asking lol, I'm just curious if anyone here has any thoughts. Thank you.

Anyone have luck with the Uxplay package?

https://voidlinux.org/packages/?arch=x86_64&q=uxplay

Just another question. Theres no real alternative for mirroring ipad/iphone to your computer, so i'd really like to get this up on my computer.

My main issue is when i stream, it'll either be frozen or, after fidgetting with the settings, at most have a staticy-error type screen. Ive gotten it to work on my old void setup, so im not sure what im doing differently.

I know this is a more obscure program but any help is appreciated

How do you set up Virtualbox on voidlinux?

Recently switched over, this is my absolute dream distro and i adore it. My only, and singular roadblock right now is setting up windows 11 VirtualBox, which i need to run a few programs (not something id wanna do with wine)

I've looked everywhere online, on the handbook/manual, and ive fidgetted with a lot of the settings but for whatever reason it just constantly crashes, either the second i get on the homescreen or after 1-3 minutes. It only closes the virtualmachine and not the entire program.

I have an AMD GPU, use KDE Plasma. i have tried kemu/qemu vmm but i wasnt having luck with that either. ive tried deleting and remaking it, redownloading the iso multiple times, and its always the same issues.

If anyone has any sort of help i'd really appreciate it. its the last thing i have to set up before just being fine forever.

Looking for a Daily use Distro, bit overwhelmed by the options.

Hi i tried to keep this short and failed.

So far I've used Mint and EndeavorOS. I dont mean to come off as picky-- but i've done so much research into other distros that ive looped around to feeling overwhelmed with information so im looking for outside perspectives.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I want to note that i actually love mint, but my biggest issue is the last of customization. its not the end of the world but small things like the lack of widgets, the right-click menu, and not really being able to change the file browser are kind of annoying.

EndeavourOS is also awesome and i havent had many issues with it so far- but im pretty traumatized from the bootloader breaking multiple times when i followed the regular arch guide so I'm worried about an Arch-based system bricking my computer when i have school due. I could just be stressing out about nothing though.

- Intermediate computer knowledge (possibly above intermediate?)

- Currently in college for IT, I do my schoolwork on this computer so i want something reliable that i wont have to babysit or stress about- But will let me tinker/adjust if i ever want to.

- I think the hardest part for me is choosing between a stable or rolling release. I dont trust myself to keep on top of updates for rolling well enough without stressing out- but also the idea of being 2 years behind everyone else is kind of insane and i worry about those updates also breaking stuff. Ive really over researched which would be better *for me* and have no answer, thats the main thing im struggling with.

- I game sometimes but not a ton or anything super recent.

Some other reservations i have:

- i'm not looking to use ubuntu because of the issues with the company... i'm a bit hesitant about fedora for the same reasons but i'm less educated on that front.

- I saw people recommending OpenSUSE TW but it having a smaller community and apparently less packages sucks. That lizards cool as FUCK Though.

AMD Ryzen 3 7330U, integrated Radeon, 16GB RAM if that changes anything.
I'd prefer to use KDE (As much as i love cinnamon)

thanks to anyone who replies to this btw smiles
