Some questions about the Kana bed

I’ve been in the market for a new bedframe, and the Kana looks like it might be a good pick. That being said, the two things I keep seeing over and over are

  1. The headboard isn’t solid wood, but then it was upgraded and now it isn’t

  2. The slats are unfinished and rough / cause splinters, but apparently these are also unfinished.

What is the current status of the bed if I were to order one today?

Heavily considering a Thuma so being able to save some $ would be nice

Bartender sold me this drink card and it’s caused quite the ruckus on board

Apparently I wasn’t supposed to be able to buy this?

$100 + 18% forced gratuity isn’t even that much of a deal but I had heard about it, figured I could save a couple bucks and asked the bartender on the promenade if i could have one and he happily sold it to me.

Cue every other bartender on this boat being bewildered that I have it, making phone calls to verify if they can give me a drink, and demanding to know who gave this card to me. If I knew how much trouble it would be to get a Rum and Coke I’d have considered otherwise!

Why is the Docked Experience so frustrating on the Deck?

I’ll preface with I use a JSAUX dock but I’ve seen the exact same issues on my brother’s official dock.

I’ve been running the Deck docked most of the time, 1440p 120hz with moonlight a lot of the time. These are just some of the issues I experience daily

- The deck audibly waking, but my TV staying black until I unplug and replug the dock from the deck

- The deck waking and defaulting to 4k 60hz, and I have to select “1080p 120hz”, wait for it to switch, then select “1440p 120hz” because for some reason selecting “1440p 120hz” directly will not actually switch anything over

- half the time when I do the above trick, when it switches to 1080p 120hz or 1440p 120hz it will just stay black until I unplug and replug the dock. Sometimes doing this will even cause the entire deck to crash and show me the “updating” screen for some reason and then it reboots

- sometimes (not on my TV but it happens all the time on my parents TV when I go to visit) it will just have garbled colors and constant flickers and I have to unplug and replug 5-6x to get it to handshake correctly.

- this was an issue, then went away with an update, then recently came back, but now for some reason my Sonos entirely breaks and gets stuck in mute on my other inputs if the HDMI cable for the steam deck is plugged in. I have no idea why this happens but it’s actually the most horrible thing if I forget to unplug my deck and my Wife wants to use the TV while I’m away.

I’ve seen these issues on both docks, multiple TVs, and cables. I’ve also read about other people having issues as well so I’m fairly certain this isn’t isolated to me.

I feel like if the docked experience worked as flawlessly as our old v1 switch, I wouldn’t even feel a need to purchase the steam machine but at this point i feel like I’m getting Steam Machine psychosis just because I wonder if it will solve all my docking issues.

Am I expecting too much from my Steam Deck or do other people feel this way? When everything works, it really is an amazing experience and I’m more than happy with my setup. But at the current moment the friction is so high that sometimes I’m annoyed to a play session started.
