Well this is good news….

I had my EcoFlow panels and inverter delivered this week but I cannot get hold of the pitched roof brackets. Is there any alternative so that I can be ready to go once it’s legalised?

Six months ago my role was made redundant and I received a good package. We’ve enjoyed our post-children holidays and ignored the current job market. However, looking for a new job is proving difficult. Our mortgage has four more years to run as we’re paying it back aggressively, which means a large monthly payment.

I spoke to our mortgage lender and they mentioned a government-backed scheme that considers your financial situation. However, if you go through your mortgage company they’ll quickly assess your savings and say no, you don’t qualify for help. The Government Mortgage Charter support scheme only requires you to be on a repayment mortgage and currently living at the property. It takes just two minutes to apply and you’ll receive confirmation within ten days. You have two options: extend the mortgage term or switch to interest-only for six months. We opted for the 6 month interest only option, at the end of the 6 months it goes back to a repayment mortgage with the added amount to still finish within the agreed term (4 years for us). No credit check needed.

This scheme is worth considering if you are a homeowner but are currently out of work for a while. Most lenders have signed up and it’s been available since COVID. I hope you don’t need this advice but just in case. Thanks for reading!
