I’m so angry that my parents didn’t put me on anything until I graduated highschool. I’m on vyvanse 20mg + 5mg Adderall and I went from barely scraping by with a 3.2 gpa to now a 4.0 in college. (Ik it’s not a bad gpa overall I just had a 1550 sat… 11 aps all 5/4 … I couldn’t get into a single good school that fit the rest of my stats basically) I’m actually at a CC, because my whole hs application was ruined by my grades, and now I have to work for a whole year just to transfer. It’s really amazing how well even this low dose has worked for me and it just makes me so upset to think about how hard I struggled, swimming upstream for nothing. Anyone else think this way :(

Since starting cc A WEEK ago in person, I was accepted into the honors program, given a scholarship, and personally asked by my teacher to join his debate team because I did so well in his class online in the summer. I have a 4.0, I’ll be able to transfer in one year, etc. I had such a hard time in high school, I suspect due to my undiagnosed adhd. I never thought school could be like this! Just sharing in hopes that someone feeling sad about not being able to go to a four year school reads this and smiles.

Hi, I’m a one year cc transfer, but I’m studying philosophy (which I might actually try to switch to art history when I get somewhere), but my ECs are just very broad and unrelated. also, what do I keep / drop from hs? What should I do? I am a pre-med so I guess that would some of it

Main EC - paid 3 year Stem internship at science museum, work as a docent, genetics lab work that was used as evidence in an international court case, did a lot of park maintenance / helping support native wildlife, was 10 hrs a week in school year 20 in summer from 2023 to ending now (it’s a cohort of 30, has a ~5% acceptance rate) - my experience focused a lot on science and the environment aswell as educating, there’s a lot more details to this that are very interesting but I can’t list them all

Artist assistant - I work with a group of queer local artists in a community ran studio, I help run events, I make food to sell / drinks, I make crafts for kids at events etc. we helped raise ~3 million in grants and donations to relocate after facing eviction. I also help run social media.

Film animation - I worked on an indie film that has been shown in festivals, I animated a lot of background scenes

Freelance painter - for the last 6 years I have worked as a commissioned based painter / artist, starting off as video game characters via discord to pet and family oil paintings

Lesser ECs

- Biology tutor for 2 years
- VP of an art club
- Librarian assistant for two years
- 6 years of ceramics classes

Full honesty please! I’m a student going to sbcc, and I just wonder if the UC students think I’m stupid. It’s not even in a self deprecating way, I just got really unlucky and got into no schools but I didn’t want to live at home so I came to sb. I know that sbcc students have a rep of being dumb/ just like to party etc. I just really wonder what people will think of me if I say I’m a cc student and not at the UC

How does it work or make a difference.. because I get that Columbia prefers sophomore year transfers, but I’m a freshman with sophomore yr credits. I’m a philosophy major, idk if that makes a difference. Is it smarter to apply as a sophomore instead??? Lmk

I was just wondering if Viking costumes are offensive, because we all know dressing up as a Native American, or like a racist costume is super uncool. But I have never heard of someone calling out someone in a Viking costume. Just wondering

I need help finding something that smells like clean laundry or the inside of the washing machine, or smells like chlorine and cleaning chemicals. I can’t find anything that’s not super sweet! Any recommendations?

How can I contact anyone at the admissions team?? I’m a US student, so the time zones are totally off, nobody will respond to my messages, emails apparently won’t work, etc. I want to switch my program, as I applied for one not realizing I wanted another one. I have qualifications above what this program needs (A*AA range). How do I ask about switching or another offer if nobody will respond?? I’ve called, doesn’t work as I’m overseas. Just frustrated and seeing if anyone else had this problem or solutions.
