Attendance

I took a summer class as a high schooler, and my parents planned for a trip right as my summer course was starting, so i only managed to go 2 days and missed the next 6. Do you think i can still go to class or should i just drop it? The teacher seems nice but also looks like he could be strict, but attendance is not counted in ur grade. Please help me

Is it better to start in the spring or the fall?

Hello all :) I’m sure this question has been asked many a time, so I do apologize, but I could use some guidance. A little backstory, I greatly struggled in school, which led to me dropping out in middle school (I know…. It’s my deepest regret), but last year I worked my butt off and finally got my GED! I originally wanted to enroll in my local CC this year, but I have been struggling with some health issues so I’ve had to put it off. Anywho. I was planning on starting this coming spring of 2027, but I saw someone say that it’s more challenging to start in the spring and it can mess up your transfer schedule. I don’t know if that’s true, so that’s why I’m here :). My question is, is it better to start in the spring semester or the fall semester? Thank you!!!

COLLEGE BACKLOGS

M(20) I am currently in my 4th year of B.Tech and I have four backlogs. My college is conducting the backlog exams on 15th July, but the main problem is that I don't have enough money to pay the exam fee. The total fee is ₹6,000, and I don't even have a single penny right now.

I don't want to ask my parents for money. I'm staying in a hostel, and I think I can only arrange around ₹2,000–₹3,000 by borrowing from my friends.

What should I do in this situation? Are there any practical ways I can arrange the remaining amount before the exam?

Placement test

Im from Nyc and plan on sophomore transferring to Stanford, and i need to take calc. I have to start at calc 1 1st semester and move up to calc 2 2nd semester. But in order to get into calc 1, I need to take a fckass placement test or I take precalc. I need to get a 85, and I got 76. If I don’t get a 85, what else can I do in order to do calc 1? I don’t have AP credits either

Delaware County Community College Moves to Cut Counseling

Article regarding Counselor layoffs at DCCC. My question to the president, help me understand your statement… How would this poor move “expand access” for students?

Laying off counselors that are integrated in our college classrooms and the community, and outsourcing mental health counseling would NOT expand access by any means.
Please survey the students, we have a voice! I have yet to receive any communication about this from the college.

Blinn College to Texas or TAMU.

Greetings.

In the following Autumn, I will be attending Blinn College and eventually transfer to TAMU or Texas. While I know many people who transferred from Blinn to TAMU, I don't know any that went to Texas.

If anybody that went to Blinn or a Texas community college, could you please inform me if Texas accept credits from Blinn or are friendly with CCs?

22F. Moved across the country, drowning in debt, exhausted, and looking for a realistic career path.

Hi everyone.
I’m 22 years old and I honestly don’t know what my next step should be anymore.
A few years ago I got kicked out of my home at 19. I immediately got my own apartment and worked as a preschool/childcare teacher for about four years. I also started college for elementary education, but because I had to work full-time, I could only take a few classes at a time and never finished.
Last year I moved from Ohio to North Carolina hoping for better opportunities. Unfortunately, I ended up unemployed for a few months, fell behind financially, and now I’m trying to recover.
Right now:
I make $15/hour.
I just worked a 12-hour shift with no break.
I’m about $5,000 in credit card debt.
I have a car loan of around $6,000 that I’m behind on.
My credit score has dropped into the 400s.
I live paycheck to paycheck.
I donate plasma twice a week just to make ends meet.
I was denied SNAP and I’m currently waiting to hear back about Medicaid.
I’m enrolled in community college, but I don’t know what I should study.
I don’t mind working hard. I’ve done physical jobs and long hours. But I’m realizing I don’t want to spend the next 40 years destroying my body just to survive.
I don’t have parents or mentors I can ask for advice, and I don’t really have friends I can lean on, so I’m hoping people here can offer some guidance.
If you were in my position, what career path would you pursue?
I’m open to:
Community college
Certifications
Apprenticeships
Healthcare
Trades that aren’t extremely hard on the body
Office jobs
Government jobs
Anything with good long-term earning potential and job security
If you’ve climbed out of debt, rebuilt your credit, or completely changed your life in your 20s, I’d really love to hear what worked for you.
Please be honest. If you think I’m overlooking an obvious path, tell me. I feel stuck, exhausted, and overwhelmed, but I’m willing to work hard if it leads somewhere better.
Thank you for reading and I’m looking forwards to your response :)!

Should I finish my ESL course before going to English 1A

Hi! I came to the U.S. and attended high school here for a year. When I enrolled in community college, my counselor advised me to take ESL classes, so I spent one semester doing that. I found those classes are boring and a waste of time (kind of class for only old people who learn, I didn't improve any english at all. This summer, I’m taking two Gen Ed courses and finding them quite easy,I don't feel that English is a barrier for me. A friend also suggested that I go straight into English 1A. So, I’m wondering, should I finish the rest of the ESL sequence, or just jump right into English 1A? Would it be too difficult for me? By the way, next semester I have two lab courses (Biology and Chemistry) and Calculus 1; I’m still undecided about that final class, as I mentioned earlier. Thanks for reading! I’d really appreciate some advice.

I have a 3.0 GPA what are my chances for getting into a cal state

I’m currently doing my third and final year in community college aiming to transfer with a associates in civil engineering and I live around the Irvine area, I decided between going into cal poly Pomona, cal state Long Beach, or cal state Fullerton as the bottom of the barrel option.

I messed up my gpa because of ROP classes I took in my high-school and they still transferred even though I was told they wouldn’t, and my gpa took a hit. It’s been like almost impossible to get it above a 3.1 because the classes I’ve been taking last fall and spring have been straight calc 2 and physics. I put in work regardless but I feel really behind.

any tips or suggestions would be great. ❤️

Hypothetically Speaking Say someone takes calc 1 and 2 over the summer at a community college. They fail calc 1 but pass calc 2. Can they transfer the calc 2 credits after taking calc 1 in the fall? Or like how does it work. Thanks

Increasing GPA?

I'm an adult learner, almost 40 years old. I took some classes back when I was fresh out of high school that I mostly completely bombed with a few A's mixed in. Then I started at a 4 year university in 2020 that my employer was paying for. They discontinued their partnership with the school and I was "grandfathered" in, so I kept signing up for classes, but then didn't end up attending because I became primary caregiver for my ill grandmother until her death last year. I'm now back in school again and will complete my associates in December. My GPA for the semester so far (taking some accelerated classes) is a 3.6ish, but because of the MANY F's that I received previously, my cumulative GPA across all institutions is still in the toilet. I have to include those transcripts because my current school lists credits from the prior schools as transfer credits. I can't apply for academic amnesty from my previous schools without paying a hefty balance that I can't afford to pay. What I'm considering is signing up for one of those programs like study.com or Sophia to try to take some classes to pad my GPA a bit to give me more options if schools I'm looking to transfer to want my GPA from all schools attended. However, I know that they may not accept credits from those sorts of online programs. I'm wondering if anyone knows, if a school doesn't accept the credits for transfer, will they still accept the GPA as part of the cumulative? I would be willing to take classes to get my GPA up without having the credits transfer if it meant I could apply to schools that I actually want to go to.

Full or part time community college?

Hello, I am currently going to community college in the fall and have yet to pick my classes. I was curious if I should become a full or part time student. I am five years out of high school and trying to get my life back on track, and am slightly worried that going full time while working a job would be too much for me to handle. Since high school I have gone to trade school but have not had any other education, besides trying to refresh my math recently on khan academy. I’m looking for some advice to steer me towards one direction or the other. Should I start with say three classes since it’s been so long since high school? If anyone has had a similar experience please share it.
