So in this horror book, it’s probably twenty pages worth of the entire novel, a man finds a bunch of puppies in an old, broken down/post apocalypse(?) zoo. Specifically they spend time in the broken down bird enclosure in this zoo.

For some reason I believe this is an animal-less world/no one is allowed to interact with animals.

PROCEED WITH CAUTION SAD PUPPY DEATH:

The man comes back at a later date to play with the puppies but finds that a bunch of teens/evil young men are brutally murdering these puppies, in one way by playing baseball with them:/

Anyways, I CANNOT remember which book this is.
