Costly Air Purifiers

Hi! I just got a job as a facilities coordinator and want to pitch an idea that could help us save a bit of money. We are currently spending $3000 a month on five COWAY air purifiers and two water systems. That price seems absurd to me, but I want to double check what other corporate companies have been using. I currently service a two floor building with about 150 people. Is this price absurd or am I wrong?

I think we could buy air purifiers outright, even commercial ones and save ourselves a lot more money, but I want to make sure I’m not missing something. I’ve never serviced this large of a company before.

Would love to get an opinion from a more experienced facilities manager.

In need of tips for getting a hair cut (PLEASE), styling, and hair color for my 4c hair.

In these pics, my wash and go is a week old. I’m thinking I need some kind of shape up or hair cut to frame my face better? Is that a possibility? I most definitely want to somehow trim the lower back of my hair because it’s a completely different hair texture (like 4a or 4b) and sticks out in a way that I don’t love (circled with red marker). I just feel like I look a bit like George Jefferson. It needs some shaping up.

I also want to dye my hair. I currently have it a kind of honey blonde, but it’s an old red dye that turned lighter. I’m thinking of dying it red, copper, or burgundy (some inspo pics in the end).

All in all, I just want my fro to look a bit more powerful, sharp, and poppy -pzazzaazz Perhaps wash and go’s, aren’t it and I should do twist out instead? Any tips would be appreciated. Thank you!

Should I step back from a 10-year friendship and decline to be my friend’s maid of honor and not attend the wedding?

I (31F) have been best friends with “Tina” (31F) for about 10 years. We met in college and were extremely close. We considered ourselves to be platonic soul mates.

Last year, Tina went through a major mental health crisis related to issues in her home and relationship. I flew across the country to support her and helped take care of her, along with her other friend Jade. We cleaned her home, all for her fiancé to create a mess all over again. Months later, Tina frequently vented to us about serious problems in her relationship. Based on what she shared (and what she said her therapist was telling her), we encouraged her to slow down before getting married.

She stayed with her partner and eventually eloped. Later, her wife confronted and berated me, upset that I had encouraged Tina to leave. What hurt me most was that Tina was present and silent and did not defend me or acknowledge her role In all of this. I was in shock and didn’t want to cause any further drama, so I kept what Tina told me about her fiancé to myself. The next day, Tina apologized on her wife’s behalf, but also mentioned that she had no romantic feelings for me, which felt incredibly out of the blue and random, considering Im not gay, which means that her wife is having some weird jealousy issues.

Since then, I have struggled to feel the same closeness with Tina. I don’t feel like I can fully trust her with my feelings or details of my life, because she tells her wife.

Now she is planning her wedding celebration and asked me to be her maid of honor. I don’t feel comfortable accepting because I don’t feel like I can genuinely stand beside her and celebrate the marriage. I also don’t want to fly across the country either, and at this point, I truly dislike her wife. Also, her wife never liked Jade, so Jade wasn’t invited to the wedding, and as a result, Jade’s friendship with Tina is over. I feel uncomfortable with the fact that she can just end a friendship with someone who did so much for her. More than what I’ve listed here.

Am I being dramatic and throwing away a 10-year friendship over one painful situation? I don’t know what to do.

Negotiating salary above a posted range. Is it worth it in this market?

Interviewing for an Ops Manager role, hourly/non-exempt, posted range is $36-41/hr. I have 5+ years of relevant experience, including direct management, so I exceed their stated minimum.

Only about $5K more than my last job at the top of the range, so I'm feeling a little iffy about it, honestly, want to push higher if it makes sense.

Couple things I'm trying to figure out:

  • Is it worth trying to negotiate above a posted range for an hourly role, or are these usually pretty locked in compared to salaried jobs?
  • Since it's hourly/non-exempt in CA, does that mean solid overtime potential if the job runs long hours sometimes? Would that change how I think about the base number?
  • Anyone had luck getting more than the posted range recently? What worked? Worried about asking for more in this market.

Not trying to lowball myself, but also don't want to blow the offer over a number that was never realistic.

[8 YoE, Unemployed, Project Management, United States]

After 8 years working in film and TV production, I'm looking to pivot into Project Management within the health tech space/Implementation & Onboarding. Would love any tips. I've been unemployed for a year and a half, and have reworked my resumé so many times. I've already done somewhat of a major overhaul to reframe my experience in PM language, but would love honest feedback on whether it reads as a credible PM resume to people outside of entertainment before I send it out wide again.

A few specific questions:

  • Does my experience translate, or are there obvious gaps I'm not seeing?
  • Any advice on tailoring further toward health tech specifically?
  • I plan to take PMP prep courses and have been studying the PM world, but I cannot afford to take the actual test. Do you think I have enough experience to make this pivot?

I know it's an unconventional pivot, but I genuinely believe the operational rigor transfers. Would love any tough love or tips from folks who've made similar jumps or hire for these roles.

TIA!

Out of work since Jan 2025, and overwhelmed with myself and my choices. How can I pivot into any of the roles listed below?

TLDR: I am trying to change careers at 31, and have 9 different resumes and roles that I am interested in, but now I think it’s just making the process more confusing, and I just don’t know what to do anymore. I feel like I’m starting over every day.

Hello, I am here to vent and ask for real, genuine advice/tips, and I’m hoping I can get great advice here on Reddit, so that I don’t pay $300+ dollars to that TikTok career/resumé coach who keeps popping up on my different social feeds. I’ve already bought a resumé format from her and… I’m embarrassed to say more.

I’m overwhelmed in my job search, and I think I’m the problem at this point. The issue is that I was in a particular/very cornered-off industry (film and TV) for 10 years, and now I’m looking for a full-on career change. I want to get as far away from entertainment and creative environments as possible. I feel that I can do any job because my experience and interests are so vast, and maybe by not choosing, I am shooting myself in the foot? I have been fortunate to have picked up some temp roles through agencies like Robert Half, but these are very entry EA/data entry roles that I can’t do forever, and my heart sinks every time, and thus begins the spiral. I’ve been surviving on Robert Half and driving DoorDash/Uber Eats.

I believe I can do the below roles because of my experience as a producer, working at a start-up for years, and in some corporate institutions where I did most of these roles. I would love the blessing of being able to pivot and not start over. I am 31 and dread that, but I am also being realistic as well.

I now have 9 different resumes for these different roles. I don’t think anyone cares or understands my film experience outside of the industry, so I have made slight adjustments to the positions for each role and have tried to avoid any film talk, so that I fit the role better, but I’m confused about what to do with my LinkedIn, and I’m paranoid about what recruiters might think. Even with these different roles/resumés, I’m still getting rejections one after the other. I tried having one main resumé and making small changes before applying, but depending on the role/career, the resumé isn’t a great match, so I figured I should have 9 different ones. I’ve also been caring for a sick parent, which has extended this unemployment further, and now I worry that I will be rejected for having a gap on my resume.

Roles (I am looking to have these roles in any of the following industries: Finance, Tech, Cybersecurity offices, Health):

Office Manager

Operations Manager

People Operations Manager

Talent Management/Recruiting

Employee Experiences

Event Planning

Project Management

HR

Senior Administrative Roles

I feel like I’m going crazy. Is it truly possible? I change my strategy every few days, or I add another role to my list when I feel like I’ve applied to all the other job opportunities that I was originally looking for, and then I create or update another resumé.  At this point, if someone were to ask me to send them my resumé, I wouldn’t even know which one to send. I’m just knee deep in resumes at this point. I’m laughing as I type this because it all feels so absurd, but I also have tears in my eyes.

I need a straight talk. I need fresh eyes, and I just need help.

I want to make sure I’m not being crazy or difficult.

My cousin is an influencer and likes creating content. She’s beautiful and loves taking pictures, which I’m all for, but this last time, we went on a really nice hike and spent so much time taking pictures. Also, moments where I wanted to be present and witness something with my own two eyes, got hijacked by being recorded first. Stopping and pausing for her to get footage and video and then going back to get some more, and we are in the hot sun. And then we started doing doing scenes, while she wants to try out video ideas. I found it to be genuinely very exhausting and tiring, and it got to the point that I said no, I can’t take any more pictures and that this is my boundary.

It was fun getting pictures taken, but after a while it started to feel like work. And I get that it’s what she does, but it’s not what I do or want to do with my time.  I think there’s a difference between taking pictures, and filming content, I thought I liked taking pictures, but perhaps not. We are both here on this trip together, and it’s turning into something about her and it doesn’t sit right with me.

I think I’m going to make it clear next time that she has limited currency with me when it comes to pictures. I’m happy to take them for her but up to a certain point. It truly becomes all consuming with directions and everything. I don’t want to seem like a hater,  which I think is what you get reduced to if you voice your opinions about these things.

Any tips on how I can have this conversation with her without making things awkward? We have different activities and trips planned this year.
