Resistor mod alternative for models with newer DENSO fuel pump?

Resistor mod alternative for models with newer DENSO fuel pump?

Hi again everyone, on a previous post, a kind user showed me the resistor mod done using potentiometers in the cabin that are used as variable resistors to control timing and fuel on the fly from inside the cabin. The idea of being able to switch from fuel efficiency to more power and everything in between on the go really appealed to me because I would be able to tune the car however I like while driving. Until I realised that I have the newer model pump without the grey and beige resistor plugs on the side of the fuel pump. Is there a way to achieve a similar effect of being able to adjust power on the fly without having to spend $2k on a unichip or having to swap the pump?

For context, I drive a 2002 hilux with manual 1kz-te turbo diesel. I already have a complete egr delete and some sort of 2.8 to 3 inch turboback exhaust with cat and a safari snorkel. I plan on adding a water to air intercooler and an in-cabin Boost tee (or electronic boost controller) to increase boost while driving as well as adding a jrp boost and egt guage. I wanted to have the in cabin Boost tee and the potentiometers so I can completely control the engine for power or fuel efficiency at any time is there a way to still achieve this? Thanks for reading :)

Seeking durable Chrome and Chrome clear coat spray can reccomendations

Hi, I want to spray paint my car rims black with a chrome rim around the outside. They are "15 standard 4wd steel wheels. They are already black, but it is rather dull/faded (even more so in person). I am trying to achieve something like the second image. I will likely use dulux metalshield black gloss epoxy enamel spray can first, and then I will add the Chrome strip. It does not have to be too nice, I just want a cheap, easy job to see if I like the look on the car. From what I have read, chrome spray can paint is rather delicate and will need clear coat protection (especially for something like a car wheel). I am just looking for some recommendations on Chrome Paint and clear coat that will work well and won't break the bank, thanks

Water to air intercooler for 1kz-te - cheap ebay or high end kit?

Hi everyone, I have a 2002 hilux with manual 1kz-te turbo diesel. I want to add an in cabin Boost tee and do the potentiometer mod (link to reddit post) but before I do this I need to get an intercooler, I was looking at some ebay front mounts but I have decided to get a water to air intercooler. I am trying to decide between getting a $600 ebay kit (image 1) or a $2000+ propper branded kit like the PWR kit (image 2). Now I know the PWR kit will obviously perform better, but by how much, And is the increase in price going to be worth the increase in performance? These high end intercoolers like PWR are made for performance race cars, not specifically 4x4's so im not sure it will be necessary. I have seen a video of someone who put an ebay 4" × 8" barrel kit on their 1kz hilux and they said they did not notice am increase in power but did notice a slight increase in fuel efficiency (link to video). Will a longer barrel be better? I am looking at a 4" x 10" barrel eBay kit but I don't know what length is best for these engines. If you have any advice, knowledge or have done this in the past please share! Thanks

Intercooler

Hi, I am going to get a front mount intercooler for my 2002 1kz-te hilux and I don't want to spend too much money. I have a bullbar and I am planning on getting a kings winch for it will the intercooler fit?

I noticed there are cheap and expensive kits, is there much of a difference in performance between a $400 intercooler and a $1500 intercooler? I was thinking about getting the maxspeeding $348 intercooler kit but how will it perform compared to the more expensive ones and will it fit? Has anyone else got this kit, if so let me know how it is. I am getting the intercooler so I can add a boost tee and do the potentiometer mod.
