The IIT placement problem nobody acknowledges
Every recruiter wants "the best IIT talent."
But uk what's the weird part.
A recruiter looking at an IIT student's resume still has very little idea what that person can actually do.
Sure... they can see:
IIT
branch
CGPA
internships
projects
skills
But none of these necessarily answer the most important question:
"If I give this person a real problem tomorrow, can they solve it?"
And this becomes even more interesting with students who don't have traditional profiles.
I mean, someone might have:
8.1 CGPA + 2 shipped products + freelance experience + open-source contributions
while someone else has:
9.5 CGPA + no meaningful work outside academics.
The resume may make the second candidate look stronger.
The actual work might suggest otherwise.
Here's one question for everyone:
If you were designing the perfect hiring system for IIT students, what signals would you actually use?
Would love to hear from students, recruiters and founders.
