Something similar to Midea U but easier to install?

New England, installed Midea U shaped in the bedrooms, and its great super quiet and efficient. However I want to put more in the rest of the house, I am concerned they will be excessively drafty in the winter time and it seems like the install is pretty much one and done with all the foam and adhesive.

Recommend a similar option that I can easily remove come winter time, then reinstall the following year?

How are you charging ground time?

I am always conflicted about this. As a CFI, I don’t make much as it is and I’m only payed when I’m with a student so part of me feels like the entire block that is not spent flying should be charged as ground time.

However, as a student I was annoyed when instructors charged me for ground time that wasn’t actually used for teaching something.

Scenario: 3 hour block, student shows up 10 minutes late, takes 20 minutes for preflight. By the time engine is started 45 minutes have passed since their start time. Fly for 1.8 hours, last 30 minutes are spent securing the plane, filling out logbook etc.

Logically I should charge 1.2 hours of ground, but that doesn’t feel right to me, so I charge them 0.5 or maybe 0.7 but now I’m not getting paid for 30 minutes, which obviously adds up and I’m not getting paid that much as it is.

Glass coverage through insurance vs Tesla

Leasing a model 3 soon, exclusively using FSD. Full glass (no deductible) through my insurance is $3/mo but they use safelite. Other option is Tesla windshield protection for $16/mo.

Is getting an OEM windshield worth the extra $13/mo? Will they give me any issues returning the lease if it is an aftermarket windshield?

I have a new student, but he just can’t hold altitude to save his life. I feel like I’m hitting a wall.

What I have tried:

Emphasized the importance of leveling out with pitch, then power, then trim

Told him to look outside, remember that sight picture

Flown the airplane with only rudders and trim to show the importance of them

Covering up instruments to force him to look outside

Slow flight

I’m conflicted if I should just move on and do other things (slow flight in particular) hoping those help him with fundamentals. But how can I ask him to fly turns around a point at a constant altitude if he can’t do it in a straight line?

We have had about 4-5 lessons so far and while there is progress, I feel like we have not improved significantly the last 2-3 lessons.

Technically IFR was at a 141 with self examining authority so it doesn’t show up on my records but it’s not a good look that both were for instrument flying.

First fail I bugged the wrong heading for the missed, resulting in turning the wrong direction for the missed.

CFII fail was going below assigned altitude (from the DPE, not the plate) flying inbound on ILS.

PPL Commercial CFI passed first try
