I am an old graduate >5 years out with a clinical gap of 3 years, non visa requiring.

I have a good step2 score 26x but no publications (2 but very average)

I am currently doing observerships.

I wanna know what my chances are of getting matched?

How important is research in my case?

I have been reaching out to people for research but nobody wants to work with a newbie.

Honest opinions please.

To begin with, I am not a native English speaker and I think the one thing that has helped me clear this test was watching English shows( with subtitles on).

My prep time was very fragmented , maybe some 5-6 days or even less.

I practiced speaking with chatgpt and asked it to grade my letters.

I practiced with oet sample tests and that's about it.

I felt kinda under prepared but during the test I was confident I will pass. It wasn't difficult at all.

In my opinion, doing just oet sample tests will suffice if you're in a time crunch like me.
