This short but powerful verse has long been used in folk Christian and folk Catholic traditions when placing injustice into God’s hands. Rather than seeking personal revenge, this prayer entrusts judgment to the Lord, asking Him to see every hidden matter and respond according to His perfect justice.

Traditional Uses:

⚖️ When you have been falsely accused, betrayed, cheated, or wronged.

🕊️ To release resentment while asking God to defend your cause.

📜 Before legal matters, workplace conflicts, or disputes where the truth needs to come to light.

How to Work This Scripture
Write the name of the situation, person, or legal matter on a small piece of paper. Place the paper beneath a white candle, a crucifix, a Bible, or another devotional item. Lay both hands over the petition and slowly recite 2 Chronicles 24:22(c) several times. With each repetition, surrender the matter to God, asking Him to see what is hidden, reveal the truth, protect the innocent, and bring about righteous justice according to His will. When you finish praying, leave the petition on your altar until you feel peace about the situation, then safely burn or respectfully dispose of it as a sign that you have placed the matter into God’s hands.

Philippians 4:6–7

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

In many folk Catholic traditions, these verses are prayed when seeking divine peace, emotional healing, and spiritual protection. They are especially useful whenever fear, anxiety, confusion, or unrest begin to overwhelm the heart and mind.

Traditional Uses:

🕊️ Before sleep to invite peaceful rest and protection from troubling dreams.

🕯️ While dressing white or blue candles for peace, healing, and calm.

🌿 Over calming herbs such as lavender, chamomile, lemon balm, or rosemary before preparing teas, baths, or sachets.

🏡 During a house blessing to establish an atmosphere of tranquility and God’s presence.

As you recite these verses, place your hands over your heart, your candle, your herbs, your prayer beads, your mojo bag, or whatever devotional tool you are praying over. If praying for another person, place your hand gently on their shoulder or hold their name or photograph in your hands while praying. With each reading, ask God to replace anxiety with peace, bless the work before you, and let His peace guard every heart, every mind, and every space touched by this prayer.

Which practice has transformed your relationship with God the most?

What changed before and after you began practicing it?

I’ve been noticing that Catholic spiritual practice seems to be expanding in a lot of different directions lately, traditional devotionals, folk Catholicism, saint work, prayer candles, herbal practices, home altars, etc. yet with this expansion, I don’t see for example a botanica dedicated specifically to say, catholic witches. Perhaps this type of botanica is not necessary. Just wondering.

I’m curious: what’s one thing you wish existed for your spiritual practice that is surprisingly hard to find?

Could be a devotional item, prayer resource, saint-related practice, artwork, candle, book, community resource, or something else entirely.

Not asking for recommendations I’m more interested in hearing what gaps people have noticed and if Im the only one thats noticed some gaps.
