Depressed and can’t live on anymore

I have been staggering ever since Covid, never got a graduation since I had to leave school early, did well on my own studying for my O levels but flunked My A levels. I decide to take a foundation course to finally apply to a university around the same time my peers had already joined or were about to. I finish my foundation and my single mom can’t afford a university in the UK as she’s lost her job. After a whole 2 - 3 years of working and saving with my mom who’s later found new work with me, I finally decide to apply early in Jan and find a Uni that I resonate with this year, estatic to join a UK university, as my foundation is only recognized there. I get accepted into two (the university of Hull and Bradford being accepted In late May) one of them being my top pick, it also being the cheapest yet quality university. I find ways to try and pay the deposit but it’s too expensive as I’m an international student with a sub par passport. Now for the past few months I’ve been crying, praying and asking around for financial aid yet to no avail. The deadline approaches for the exorbitant deposit to be paid and my mom is unable to as she’s stretched thin with paying bills and the countries constant inflation and even having to take my siblings out of school. The deadline is on the 21st of this month and I’m yet again going to miss out on another year while my friends are now graduating and starting their own work meanwhile I’m stuck at the age of 22 desperate to leave this country and join a university so I can get a good degree and solid job so then I can support my family. But of course can’t do anything else.

As for opportunities and Universities in the country I’m in currently, they’re so much more expensive and these ones I’ve seen are jokes. Paying out of your ass for terrible education.

I have even searched in other countries to apply and move forward with but they require me to apply with something different or take my high school education again which is something I don’t want to do and also can’t do.

I can’t move forward, I’m stuck alone under the roof of my mom and can’t find my way at all. I think I might just give up.

Am I being Overcharged only for painting and normal wear and tear?

Hello everyone just wanted to know if I’m being charged an exorbitant amount for moving out and leaving a 2bed apartment, leaving after about a year as per the contract. Now after everything has been settled and they’ve reviewed the apartment for wear and tear they’re charging a whopping 3950 aed (damn near 4K) through the deposit of 4.4k for just paint. There are no damages. Apartment has been cleaned completely inside and out. No damages to the bathrooms, balcony doors, ACs, cupboards and lights. Small marking on the walls from furniture (which is to be expected) and from nails needed for wall mounting. Now I wouldn’t mind getting the paint done but they’ve given us such a small timeline for it in which a contractor would not be available and have been given no guarantee even after the paint that the money would be returned in full. I am not sure the building is under RERA so I’m not sure a complaint to them would be viable. The building staff have been pretty rude so far as i have been asking for the money back after they’ve done the painting and they haven’t said anything back. Now I’ve moved out and they haven’t given us a thumbs up or move out letter to disconnect DEWA and the company that provides their air conditioning.

Is there anything I can do to get the money back? Even if it isn’t in full, the paint should only cost around 1000-2000 so I don’t want all the deposit money to be lost.

I can provide pictures of the apartment in its current condition to anyone who would want to see them to see if I’m being truthful or not as well so my DMs are open.

I have never really faced anything liked this before in my years of being in the UAE so I’d like some advice whether to tread lightly and let the money go or to fight for it.

I hope I can get some genuine responses, and thank you for your time.

Any negatives or Positives from any alumni or current students i would really appreciate. Any advice for accommodations or study material will also be highly appreciated!

Should I upgrade?

Not that I have tried playing games on it, but I currently have a macbook air 2020, m1 chip, 16 gb. Not that my primary focus is games, my Mac is a slight bit damaged as I had gotten it second hand, refurbished back in 2022 and I don't think it would run games as well as some of the newer models would. Battery life on my mac for Uni is also pretty poor but manageable. Should I get a new Macbook Air (As I cannot afford a Pro) If so then which one should I get that would help me play games occasionally. Also looking for some advice on whether its worth to buy a new one or should I stick with what I have currently.

Again just to clarify I'm not looking for a pro model or gaming laptops per se, so those are out of question.

As for games I would run, they're not all that graphically demanding. For example, I only want to get crossover so I can play Marvel rivals or some of the older persona games on low settings.
