PPI made things worse?

Long story short, my 8 month old has had terrible reflux, gas/tummy issues pretty much since he was born with tongue/lip tie, dairy intolerance and he recently cut out soy and oat. His ped but him on Pepcid and increased to twice a day. Things maybe got a little bit better but he still had reflux and slept horribly at night, so ped agreed to start nexium. It was also exacerbated by rebound reflux after being off of Pepcid for 5 days do allergy testing and reflux came back with a vengeance…anyway, He’s been on it for a week now and things are even worse. He is constantly congested and runny nose (no fever or sick contacts), he’s drooling so much (most likely not teething), and he’s waking up very uncomfortable overnight and choking on his mucous.

Has anyone else had this happen? I think I want to come off of the nexium now since it’s not recommended long term anyway and he’s gaining weight and doing well with solid foods.

Regression HELLLLLp

I’ll preface with saying my almost 8 month old has never been a great sleeper. We struggled with tongue ties, bad gas and reflux with CMPI for a while. He’s not formally sleep trained but he is capable of connecting sleep cycles and doing 4-5 hour stretches but they are few and far between. We have finally gotten on a better, age appropriate schedule. He takes 2 naps a day, wake window are between 3-3.5 hours and gets anywhere from 2-3 hours of naps in a day which are mostly contact naps.

At a baseline, he wakes up a few times a night and needs to be fed other times he can just be rocked back to sleep. The last couple of weeks have been absolutely terrible. He will have multiple false starts and wake every 30 minutes to an hour from bedtime (between 7-8pm) until 11 or 12 before he will give a 2 maybe 3 hour stretch. I’ve tried moving bed time up and back. I’ve tried more awake time, I’ve tried following his sleepy cues and nothing seems to make a difference. Is this just a regression/developmental leap? He’s recently learned to crawl, he’s pulling up on things and trying to stand and walk. I, by no means, am expecting him to sleep through the night because he’s breastfed, but I would love for his night wakings to go from 8-10 times a night to 3-4. Any advice on how to get through this?!

Thanks!
