Two PGY-2 Internal Medicine Positions Available

Hi all! I am posting this on behalf of my Program Director as we have a couple of openings in our Internal Medicine Residency program. Please see below for more information.

An unexpected opportunity has opened up in Milwaukee! Our Internal Medicine Residency Program currently has two PGY-2 positions available for qualified transfer applicants.

We are a growing, close-knit Internal Medicine program that combines the clinical breadth of a tertiary-care hospital with community-based medicine, strong faculty mentorship, and an academic curriculum designed to prepare residents for careers in hospital medicine, primary care, or fellowship.

And while we take training excellent physicians very seriously, we don’t believe residency has to lose its sense of community or fun along the way!

Why Ascension Wisconsin?

Our residents train primarily at Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital, a tertiary-care hospital in the heart of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with additional experience at Ascension St. Joseph Hospital, where residents care for an underserved and medically complex patient population.

Our curriculum provides broad exposure to inpatient medicine, critical care, ambulatory medicine and the Internal Medicine subspecialties. PGY-2 residents have experiences in:

  • Inpatient Internal Medicine
  • ICU
  • Night Float
  • Hospital Medicine
  • Cardiology
  • Neurology
  • Infectious Diseases
  • Rheumatology
  • Ambulatory Medicine
  • Elective rotations

Residents can further individualize their education through electives including Cardiovascular ICU, Electrophysiology, POCUS/Emergency Medicine Procedures, Obesity Medicine, Radiology, Psychiatry, Pain Medicine, and Hematology/Oncology and Radiation Oncology, among others.

Our educational program includes Journal Club, PICO/evidence-based medicine conferences, Adverse Event/Morbidity & Mortality Conference, CPC, Grand Rounds, subspecialty conferences, palliative care education and multidisciplinary teaching. Residents also receive access to AMBOSS, participate in the Yale Office-Based Medicine Curriculum, and receive American College of Physicians membership.

Most importantly, we are building a program where residents know one another, faculty know their residents, and trainees have a meaningful voice in shaping the program. We value mentorship, curiosity, teamwork, professionalism and the idea that residency should produce not only outstanding internists, but physicians who genuinely enjoy practicing medicine and working with one another.

And then there’s Milwaukee…

Milwaukee is a fantastic place to spend residency. We’re located along Lake Michigan in a city with professional sports, Summerfest, an outstanding restaurant and brewery scene, festivals, museums, beaches and lakefront trails, with a cost of living that still makes resident life manageable.

It’s a big enough city to always have something to do and a small enough city that you can actually do it.

Who Should Apply?

These positions are intended for physicians who have successfully completed the prerequisite training necessary to enter a categorical Internal Medicine Residency at the PGY-2 level ( completed preliminary IM year) ,or who are currently training at the PGY-2 level in an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine residency program and are seeking a transfer opportunity. Applicants must be in good standing with their current or most recent residency program and demonstrate satisfactory academic performance, clinical competence, professionalism, and progress appropriate to their level of training.

Appointment will be contingent upon completion of the program’s standard application and credentialing process, including verification of prior graduate medical education, satisfactory documentation of training and performance, eligibility for appointment at the PGY-2 level, applicable licensure and employment requirements, and all institutional and ACGME requirements.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration consistent with applicable institutional policies and federal and state requirements.

If you’re looking for a program where you can receive rigorous clinical training, know your faculty, find great mentors, help shape a growing residency, and have some fun while becoming an excellent internist, we would love to hear from you. Please email the Program Director, Dr Vaishnavy Bhaskaruni, vaishnavy.bhaskaruni@ascension.org, or the Program Coordinator, Brittany Miller, brittany.miller3@ascension.org with your resume and interest.

Thanks all!

My chin feels so free now

Got bored during a meeting, realized I had a bump emerging on my chin. Couldn't get a good look at it until I was getting ready to leave for the day and discovered she was ready to blow. I think this is the same spot as my previous pimple popping video was. Hope you enjoy!

Bad news About Halloween Drop

Did you guys hear that there isn't going to be a Halloween drop? I can't cite the Tiktoker, otherwise the mods might remove my post for "doxxing", but it's one of the more popular creators who has a SA that they obtained this information from. Apparently it's because the previous Halloween collections don't do that well. And that kind of makes sense, I do remember seeing posts about last year's and how a lot of people didn't really like them. But that's still such a bummer! I was really looking forward to seeing what they were going to come up with. Now if you really want a Halloween bag, you have to go with resellers and of course they're overpricing them 🙄.

Goodbye Pink Teri!

Last night with her! I love the idea of a pink beaded bag but it feels really flimsy. Definitely not worth $300 (I personally think). I'd rather get my money back to be put towards a different bag that I'd be interested in. I usually end up having regret towards the bags I return but this is for the best!

Merlot/Burgundy (really just dark red) Bags

This seems to be the one color that's very difficult to find right now (other than pink, of course)! If there's any SA (or customers that have recently gone to stores) in this thread, does your store have an Erin, large Ella, Lana 23, or (large) Lola in either color? I'm open to also considering other bag styles, as long as they're medium shoulder/crossbody bags and likely under $350.

I do see a Brooklyn 34 on Amazon but she seems just a tad bit too big for me.

In Stock but also not really

Dillard's... This is the second time I've seen a deal, I add it to cart; it's out of stock so I can't.

Pls update your website 🙏🏼 if an item is out of stock, take the listing down or straight up mark it as unavailable.

Shimmer Pink

Hi all! I'm looking into either the dumpling or 454 bag in shimmer pink but I'm concerned that it might be like an incredibly pale pink to the point it looks white. If anyone has either of these bags in this colorway, can you confirm that it's actually a decent pink?

Update to Rowan mini question

A couple of days ago, I asked people if they liked the Rowan minis because there was a specific color I was interested in but I didn't want to buy a bag that was too small. Most people said yes, and that they're actually more spacious than they looked. I ended up getting the bag and she arrived today.

What a gorgeous blue, I regret not getting more of this collection. It's really actually not as small as I thought. I'm very pleased! Makes me sad how many other collections I passed on just because of fear of how small this bag is. Thank you to anyone who answered my question!

June Drop

Hey all, I've been seeing conflicting information about whether there's an outlet drop on 6/24 or 7/1. Before I set my alarm to wake up at 3:00 a.m. in a couple hours, can any of you confirm what you've heard? Thank you!

Rowan Minis!

(Lol it's me again)

For those of you with the Rowan minis, how are you liking them? I typically only get Rowans when they're in the medium / regular size but there seems to be a lot more availability in the minis when it comes to the different styles. I understand that they're considerably smaller, but can you still fit a decent amount of things in them?

This is more of a small rant but I hate that the price of the minis are now around what the mediums used to be.

Depop is something else

I'm browsing Depop for Laurels and came across this. If you're selling a bag from previous collections, please be sane with your pricing. Because what is this? And the description?? Take it down if you're not selling it or keeping it lol.

Sad Rant

On the 21st, one of the SAs on here posted that their store was doing PBLs for the Wednesday outlet drop. I reached out to them, confirmed that they have the two pink bags I was looking to buy in stock, and the SA informed me that they would hold them. They did tell me that if they couldn't do the PBL on Wednesday, they could on Thursday. Excellent. The drop releases Wednesday morning, I'm up at that time anyway because there's a different bag I wanted to buy. I do see that one of the bags I was interested in getting was available. But because of that hold, I didn't buy it right then and there; the other bag I was interested in I somehow never saw on the site (I think it quickly went out of stock).

Wednesday morning, I text the store and they tell me that they can't do the pay by link that day, but they ask if Thursday would be okay, to which I say yes. Now, I think this is where miscommunication happens on my part. Obviously they're a very busy store, I don't know why I assumed that they would text me sometime on Thursday. In my defense, I've previously had a store reach out to me about a bag notification or whatnot. But I text the store late on Thursday, which I again realize probably wasn't the best move especially if they wouldn't likely respond quickly.

They don't get back to me until Friday morning. I don't really know how it works with stores that have texting capabilities but I thought they could maybe see previous communication? Because they ask if I was still looking for a bag. I relay that there were bags on hold for me. They ask for my name and that they would have to check to see if they were still on hold. A couple hours pass, they haven't responded to me but I reach out again to ask if those bags ended up being sold. They message to ask what items I was looking for. I say the two bags, they again note that they would have to double check to see if they still have them.

I do realize that instead of all this texting, I really should have just called the store. I did call them just a little bit ago to see if a) the sales associate that was initially helping me with the hold was available and b) pray to God that those bags happened to still be on hold/in stock. No to both :( . The person I was talking to told me that holds were only available for 24 hours. So I really should have called on Thursday lol, instead of wasting their time on Friday. I did ask if either bag was available at a store that they could see and I don't think they could see it in stock either.

This isn't the end of the world to not get to pink bags, especially since I have items coming my way already, but I must admit I'm a little bit disappointed. Resellers will probably return some items within the next couple of days so all hope is not lost. But I think this will be the last time (was also the first time) I try to ask a SA try to hold items that are clearly very popular. Will continue to be in the trenches at 3am 🫡.
