FYI: Before you do Echoing Hatred....
- You can only carry 1 Trace of Echoes at a time. It is basically a character flag, not an item.
- Completing Tier 60 (Torment 8) will unlock the Crab with the Knife pet.
- Touching the shrines in order will unlock the Howling Mouth of Madness portal.
- Teleporting out to manage your inventory will cause all the items to disappear.
The order of shrines:
- Tier 1-9 : Use the Protection Shrine
- Tier 10-14 : Use the Artillery Shrine
- Tier 15-19 : Use the Lethal Shrine
- Tier 20-24 : Use the Channeling Shrine
Hope this helps! It's semi-rare, so figured people want to "do it right" the first time.
Edit: Also, if you haven't found a Trace of Echoes yourself, people do seem to run it semi-regularly in PUGs.

You can't carry more than 1 Trace of Echoes
Just a heads up that if you pick this up twice and don't use the first one, you will NOT be able to use it twice. It seems you can only ever have 1 of the items at a time.
