Thanks for the help with my first Tijuana trip

It was wild to be able to walk across the border and have lunch in Mexico. Caesar's restaurant was so good and my lunch was only $16! The downtown area was deserted. I was surprised at the lack of people. There were dentist offices everywhere, I guess they know their target audience. Border crossing going in was 30 minutes, out was 20 minutes. Passport card was fine. I forgot about the Mexican pharmacies, had to make a stop. lol. I'm definitely going back, what a privilege to be able to walk into Mexico!

First trip to Tijuana - border crossing questions.

I've wanted to do a day trip to Tijuana since I moved here 8 years ago. I'm finally getting off my unmotivated ass, and doing it. I have a passport card, are those still OK to use? I'm going to drive to the border, and walk across. Any good parking place recommendations?
I'm going to Avenida Revolucion, to explore and have lunch at Caesar's. I also want to go to Pasaje Rodriguez.
Appreciate any tips/help.

Service with new stylist took twice as long dilemma

I've been super spoiled with a fantastic stylist for the last 7 years. I'm very boring and always get the same partial blonde highlights with a basic trim. I'm in & out of the chair in 90 minutes. When she was on maternity leave, the person she referred me to got me done in the same amount of time.

So I was expecting around the same amount of time with my new stylist today. Especially when I received a text about 2 hour parking being available near the salon. I was in the chair for 3 1/2 hours. My color looks great, no complaints there. I'm just struggling with the time. My ass was numb, my brain turned to mush from all the talking, and I was obsessed over the thought of getting a parking ticket since I was in a 2 hour spot.

I mentioned that it was taking a long time at the end, which I now feel bad about, but I was not prepared. I'm wondering if maybe she did a full highlight, would that take 4 hours on chest length hair? I thought I communicated a partial highlight?

I'm torn about going back, her color is good, but I don't know if I can handle 4 hour appointments. Am I being unrealistic?

I'm curious about the ethics here since I paid cash for the work. Turns out my dental insurance doesn't cover anything. I got 3 fillings today and paid $984 total. One of the fillings was a large one in a molar, #30. The dentist told me after the filling was done that it turned out to be a deep filling, went below the gum line. She said there are 2 scenarios:

  1. tooth will be sensitive for a while (couple months) and then be fine.
  2. tooth will be come very painful and I will need a root canal.

My question is, could she not tell this from the x-ray? Why make me pay for a filling, only to turn around and need a root canal? Also, during the filling she asked my permission to use a silver filling on this tooth because it will last longer. I said OK, but then asked about the price difference. I was told she charges cash clients the same price for silver & composite. This filling was $402. Does that sound right for a silver filling?

Lastly, she dropped an instrument (no idea what) while working and it hit me and landed on my chest. The hygienist looked around and deemed everything fine. I got home and discovered a scratch that was lightly bleeding on my neck. I took a couple photos and texted them to the office. Probably nothing to be done about this, except document with the dental office?

The check engine light, with this code, was on for 2 days, and now it's off. Car is running fine, back to it's zippy self. Did my mini heal itself? I know I should still get it checked out, but it feels less urgent now? I have a 2016 cooper s convertible with 33k miles. Anyone have experience with this code? When I scheduled with my mechanic he thought it was likely the Vanos solenoid. He changed my oil 6 months ago.

Hi all - I have a 2016 Cooper S convertible with 33K miles. After work tonight, car started fine, but was very sluggish in 1st gear. At the first stoplight it was idling rough and then the check engine light (solid yellow) came on. After the car was warm it ran fine, no rough idle when stopped. Didn't seem as sluggish. My google research is indicating most likely spark plugs/ ignition coil? I can't get to my mechanic until Saturday, is the car OK to drive for a couple days? Idea of cost? Anything else it could be, based on mileage?
Appreciate the help!
